We had a retained firestation on Brough airfield and I remember chatting to a long term retained p/t fireman in our office who said the Station Hotel fire was his scariest call out.

 

Maybe the one honour the fire in his bin also crapped on the toilet seat in Hull indoor market !!

 

I lived near a retained fire station for a while, and the only real fire I recall them getting called out to was for their own barbeque in the rear of the fire station when it got out of hand.

Had to drive down Spring bank today , several times in the morning , most lay-bys full of parked cars ,BM’s , Merc’s etc and SUV’s , they are all morning on ‘one hour ‘ spaces , not a warden is site !! They’ll be in the suburbs though .
Same in Sheffield around Pitsmoor etc , double parking at the takeaways , coppers when asked says it’s not worth the paperwork and time trying to trace or follow up on tickets given .
What a f****** state this country has got into and nobody seems to give a f***.
Always someone with a reason or excuse .. maybe this … , maybe that …
I’m grouchy cos my body is beginning to crumble I think !!

 

All those posh motors belong to people getting their haircut and buying fruit and vegetables.

 

Ironically was talking to someone who lives on pitsmoor yesterday. I said do you feel threatened. She said no just angry at all the mess and bad attitude in general. Waste all over and pissing in the streets.

 

And just round the corner on beverley road, shops now expanding to take over most of the footpath out front, building new fences and walls. Most shops seem to have a small gang of blokes smoking and drinking stood in the doorway, not very inviting to say the least.

 

Yeah I've noticed that on Newland Ave as well , certain shops expanding and taking half the pavement

No I drove past and the cars were pretty memorable almost flashy - why do you ask ?

I'm sure the umpteen workers who'll keep their jobs for a bit longer will live with that.
