Any nation advocating the destruction of another or denying its right to existence cannot be benign by definition...
I tell you mate, if Iran ever get succesful in commiting an atrocity in our country, I'm going to be going right back at him. So far our intelligence services have been successful in taking down agents, but as has been shown with Russia, sometimes the best will in the world can't save us. What I find even more insulting is that he thinks it's because of Netty we feel the way we do, let me tell you about Netty, I despise the **** because of what he has done, but it don't change my view on Iran one bit and Netanyahu would be the last person I'd be listening to for guidance on another state. You listed all the countries the other day Iran have been involved in causing death and detruction. Humanity has completely lost it senses these last two years, but trying to paint Iran in the way he has, is as you say, absolutely astonising. His hatred for Israel is so strong, it has also made him blind. So I'll say them again, Sudan, Syria and many others who ever cared about them, let me tell you....no one!
The former deputy director-general for safeguards at the International Atomic Energy Agency says we don't know exactly where things stand inside Iran's nuclear programme following Israel's attacks. Olli Heinonen says Israel has likely done significant damage to Tehran's nuclear capacity. The facility in Natanz "will take at least years to recover", he tells Radio 4's Today programme. "I think [the Fordow plant] is the same. It's in a very bad shape after these bombings." But the key question remains, Heinonen says, about where Iran is keeping its stockpile of "more than 400 kilograms" of highly enriched uranium. "If they have a secret site, which doesn't need to be very big... and they can enrich to weapons-grade [uranium] secretly without IAEA being present, then we have a big problem on our hands." 400kg of highly enriched uranium (enough for 5-8 bombs) and no one knows where it is. Sounds like a Tom Clancy book.
Ditto Israel and her apologists at this point. ****s absolutely deserve each other, but by ****s I mean the rulers of both rogue states; not the ordinary people, who surely deserve better in both cases.
Yeah, I agree with you on not the ordinary people. The world needs you and me as leaders...well you can be leader I don't want that **** job, just give me the buttons to push and call out when required, red1 brb, red 2 brb... please log in to view this image
I'd push back on this. As I hope is established by now, I despise the current Israeli govt and have loathed Netanyahu for most of his political career. But to compare Israel to Iran is simply a nonsense. Even if I played devil's advocate and conceded that Israel has broken every war crime going, it does so at an acutely local level. It's "beef" has always and only been with its immediate neighbours, so much so that you could map out conflicts involving Israel and you'd get no further than Cairo to the West and Amman to the East. Iran by contrast is at the very root of global turmoil. It is involved in conflicts it has zero business being involved in. Why does it supply arms and training to the Sudan Armed Forces, fighting a civil war 2500 miles away? Why did it enable Basshir Assad to murder half a million of its own people - again, not a neighbouring country? Why did it build up Hezbollah to the point that Lebanon - even further away - ceased to function as a sovereign state? Why is it deeply involved in the Yemen civil war? The answer to all of these questions cannot be as sophistic as "because of Israel". To put it somewhat differently: If Israel ceased to exist tomorrow, the world would be a better place for appx 5 million Palestinians. If Iran ceased to exist tomorrow, the world would be a better place for 50 million Sudanese, 23 million Syrians, 5 million Lebanese, 35 million Yemenites and 90 million Iranians who live under a bigoted and repressive regime. There is no comparison whatsoever.
Seems like you and CK need it spelling out in plain language. I have no regard for the Iranian leadership, they have demonstrated what an Inhumane bunch they are and they can go and do one. What you and CK misunderstand here, is that I’m describing how Iran will (and have) react to an attack from Israel. An attack that isn’t based on quelling any nuclear weapons development, but one that is based on Netanyahu’s desire to reshape the Middle East in Israel’s favour and to keep Israel on a war footing; which keeps him in power. The US were due to meet with Iran this week to start the nuclear deal negotiations again, something that would have kept Iran in check, but now instead because of Israel’s actions, we have several well armed nations on the brink of war I live in hope that I’ll get a sensible response from you, but I don’t expect it because you’re more interested in personal spats because you don’t understand the nuances of these issues.
The USA have held multiple high level meetings with Iran over the past three months, without success. Iran continued enriching uranium throughout that time, so you're jumping through quite a few speculative hoops to conclude that one more meeting would have "kept them in check".
Still doesn't explain why you wouldn't hold off until after that meeting ... plenty of other reasons for not doing so, mind ...
I think the item that requires more explanation is why you and Ponkie seem totally willing to accept Iran's word that they have no intention to build a bomb, even though they have destabilised at least 5 countries in the region, built 4 secret nuclear facilities and currently have 400kg of enriched uranium unaccounted for. The burden of proof is on you, I'm afraid. So far your strongest argument appears to be that we should trust Iran because they're not Israel.
Mate - I am no more willing to accept Iran's word on anything than I am Israel's ... unequivocally... both appear to be regimes led by fanatics with scant regard for the sanctity of civilian life ... unless the civilians are their own ... tell me I'm wrong ...
I don't often agree with you mate, and some of your long winded posts are like, just toooooo long to read, but the explanation you gave earlier today about a non existent Israel versus a non existent Iran was nicely summarised, one of your better posts....for my brain anyway. Probably one of my fav posts of yours for a long time and easy for me to understand in nice small chunk paragraphs.
