**** sake man they are "ILLEGAL" undocumented immigrants not asylum seekers. Why would they need asylum from France? There are routes for asylum seekers and also for imigrants which work very well. The problem with the boat people is they throw away any proof of identity and reason for turning up here. I have heard it said by supporters that they come here from France because they have family here, if that's the case we should have no problem taking them to their family and saying you are safe now with somewhere to live and family to feed and take care of you.
Actually, the Beeb told me migration was 400k net last year. That's more than enough migrants to be getting on with, let alone creating more avenues. Maybe if we reduced the amount of garden migrants, we could take in more genuine refugees. Until then, we are perilously full.
