I have a MacBook (can’t recall which model)

Don’t use it for photo editing, but it’s really reliable and battery lasts ages

The getting used to it is my biggest worry.

We also have iPhones & my wife uses an ipad, so my head is telling me to synchronise the lot rather than having separate systems but I turn into a proper old man moody diva each time I upgrade the phone.

Has it maintained it’s speed when loading programmes. Laptop is currently taking around 20mins to load a picture into photoshop. I’ve given up on the vids.

Had my macbook pro since 2017- was a little strange going from Pc but Ive never looked back. Its handy being linked to my Iphone too. As BradyMK2 said Macbook operating system is designed differently from the way a PC one is ,which makes PC's more susceptable to viruses which generally kill a pc as it grinds to a halt . I havnt had any anti virus software running on my Mac since i got it and its as sprightly as me in my 62nd year !!. After a year or so with a `pc its invariably as slow as fcuk and i wouldnt go back to using a PC as my daily driver. I built a desktop PC and use it purely for gaming but will invariably get another Mac when this one dies.

To be totally honest I don’t really use it for much other than basic admin.

It’s fine with Teams calls and watching videos but I don’t upload anything really.

It does sync well with calendars etc on iPhone and seems fast but I’m probably under utilising it

I’m about renew my Dell, I’ve used up all the memory and can no longer run updates and it’s getting clunky.

I need a large memory, large screen and decent graphics capability for work and I’m surprised how pricey they are now. Most tech is fairly cheap nowadays, but it looks like I’m going to have to pay £2.5k for the laptop and then another £500 for the transfers and set-up.

They have some decent deals in Costco we got a very fast MSI which is great for graphics and uploading running basically anything we want.

    yep
im fully windows desktop pc all the way

but a very good windows laptop costs a lot, otherwise its full of bloatware, very low performance hardware and just runs like ****

macbook or 2k+ for a top of the line windows laptop, but depending on usage, a macbook may not be feasible

a big problem with laptops, is the cooling needed to run powerful parts but in a tiny space and with a battery

one of the best gpus you can buy vs a laptop
please log in to view this image

the actual gpu itself, is tiny and fits in that laptop easy... the pure size is the cooling, the heatsink and fans to keep it runnable
