Things are looking up mate, looks like they are definately going ahead with a direct transplant. I've got an appointment with the nephrologist on 24th, they just need to make sure that nothing has changed on my behalf, and that my kidneys are still in good nick. MRI, CT, ultra-sounds, x-rays, bloods all need to be done again, but should all happen within the next 4 weeks, then all being well, a date for transplant. Possibly September/October time.
I've done everything they asked, no alcohol (I'm not counting, but its 632 bloody days now!!), lost 2 stone as a consequence of that, so more than they said i should lose.

Once done, I should only be in hospital for 1 night, then home, and 6 weeks off work. The Mrs will be in for 10 days, 3 pre op, and 7 post op.

Hope tomorrow goes as well as it can mate. Genuinely, my thoughts will be with you all tomorrow.
Stay strong, it does get easier with time, and having your loving family around you will give you strength.
I know you've mentioned it, but i think you would have made him very proud, every day.

Thank you all, it's been a strange day but a lovely day.

I discovered proper whiskey and why dad loved it as a drink.

No doubt at some point this will all hit me like a train, but knowing there are people there to talk to is incredibly comforting

I'm reading this and remember your original post.

I'm going through the same. My Dad passed last Monday it was sudden, he hadn't had any illness or anything and he was only 60 and he was a young 60! Had an active job, had a motorbike and just didn't show any sign this was going to happen and then in the space of about 12 hours on Monday he was gone!

I'm still in shock it's happened. His funeral is two weeks today.

The sudden nature of it and his age are what's hard. He planned to be here years yet and we all expected him to be!
