It's easy to forget football is now a global game. I rather dismissed Senegal in discussion with my PSIL (Probable Son In Law) but he plays FIFA quite a bit on his game console, including assembling his own on-line team. He's therefore a bit more aware of who's where, especially at lower transfer values. He said it wouldn't be easy.

Among the starters, there were 8 Senegalese players who currently turn out in top-tier European leagues. Of those, six made up Senegal's midfield and attack. In many ways, it's not a dissimilar mix to the England team, given that several of the real big hitters in the EPL are almost no-go areas for English players.

    Diatta - Monaco
    Niakhaté - Lyon
    Gueye - Everton
    Diarra - Strasbourg
    Camara - Monaco
    Ndiaye - Everton
    Sarr - Crystal Palace
    Jackson - Chelsea

All three substitutes play in top leagues too.

    Gueye - Villarreal
    Sabaly - Real Betis
    Dia - Lazio

Koulibaly is playing in Saudi Arabia now but played 230 games for Napoli and also had a season at Chelsea. Similarly, the keeper played in Ligue 1 and at Chelsea.

Nevertheless, both of the two games this week have been very poor for England. I watched a bit of Portugal v Spain at the weekend, I shudder to think what either of them would have done to the England we've seen this week.

Well known football writer...Alan Nixon is saying that...Tom Cleverley is Argyles choice...and are trying to work out a contract with him....Cleverley also has no backroom staff to bring and needs to sought out this aspect....maybe there is an opening for Adin Osmanbasic etc to stay on.

A warning here.....Wickipedia was suggesting that for his short time in charge at Watford he was on £2 million annual salary.....that ain't happening at Argyle.

It’s not often I criticise the BBC. They’re not always right but they are more often than not and when they aren’t, it’s not for the want of trying.

I was though disgusted with an interview they ran this morning concerning the dreadful plane crash in India.

It seems that only one person on the plane survived and he’s a Brit. Some snotty nosed junior reporter managed to door-step a cousin or similar. He asked “how do you feel about your relative being the only survivor when everyone else died?”

What sort of.question is that? The guy tried his best and said “Well we’re very happy he’s OK of course but we’re still hopeful others have survived too”.

The reporter then came out with “how do you feel about all those other passengers who’ve died?”. “Dreadful of course but, as I say, we still hope others are OK too and it’s not as bad as it seems”.

The ******* idiot reporter then circles around the same sort of questions again. And again.

What pearls of wisdom did he think this poor chap was going to come up with especially having heard about the whole thing a couple of hours earlier?

Was there something he could say to make all the bereaved think “Oh, that’s OK then”?

Was the reporter hoping he’d say “oh yes it’s great he’s alright and we don’t give a flying **** about the other 250”?

    Absolutely disgraceful.

You forgot to mention the survivor also had a brother on the same plane. I saw that interview as well. Cringe does not describe...

This air disaster survivor in seat 11A must of been ejected away from the explosion.....how on earth could he have survived otherwise.....following that fire ball of aviation fuel from a fully fueled aircraft at take off......he was seen walking away from the disaster with seemingly only facial injuries.....was his brother sitting next to him....possibly so ....an aviation expert said that for one person to survive out of approximately 250 passengers is incredibly rare.....it will eventually hit him as he recovers....and he will ask why me....why not my brother etc, etc.

I see that under Lee Carsley, England Under 21’s beat the Czech Republic 3-1 away last night in an Euro Championship qualifier.

He played a 4:2:2:2 formation, which is a new one on me. It’s a variation on the old 4:2:4 with no less than 4 attackers. England has 68% possession and had 33 touches in their opponents’ box as against 12 for the Czechs. 642 passes to their 288. This was achieved after several withdrawals from the original squad.

Did we pick the wrong man for the senior team?

It does sound a bit worrying about Wrexham's pursuit of Ryan Hardie....it looks as if it might happen....we just cannot afford to lose our only regular goal scorer.

We need to announce who are new manager is and get pursuading Hardie to stay.

Not just the Hardie to Wrexham whispers at the moment.......but also talk of Randall to Swansea as well........we'll be a club with money but no key players.

Looks like Cleverley on a 3 year deal. Ok with me......

If we have money then we can buy key players who will likely be on less money than Hardie and Randell ergo save a few quid with another star to sell in the future for yet more profit. Sounds ok to me as well.

So eventually confirmed.......INCOMING....35yr old Tom Cleverley has been appointed as Head Coach on a 3 yr contract.....back up staff will be appointed in due course.

No 1 job must be to sort out the situation with Ryan Hardie and Adam Randell....will they be moving on....Hardie is important....Randell I'm not too bothered with.

Yes they where impressive....but don't worry when the senior team get hold of them we'll get all that imressive flair knocked out of them .....and make them conform to passing across the back and never allowing too much forward movement......never pass to an attacker when it is easier to pass to your goalkeeper.
