    CHANNEL WATCH.

Saturday 31st May 2025 ....saw 1194 migrants cross the channel....this up for the same period last year by 40%......boats where cueing up like taxi's to be taken onboard coastguard boats patrolling the channel.

This Labour government has no clue what to do....like most things they touch it doesn't turn to gold but ends up as a downgrade....the South East is being swamped by migrants and you see them everywhere.

Would that be because after several days of bad weather, Saturday was a flat calm?

Clearly illegal crossings are a issue but there's no need to get hysterical over misleading stats promulgated by the fascist right without first engaging your brain.

I'm pleased to see this gentleman has lost weight by using a weight loss coaching app advertised in the form of a bogus "news item" in the 'Erald.

What I am concerned about is why his head has stretched on the vertical axis. It's almost as though someone has tampered with the image.....

Yes I remember those. My grandparents on Dad’s side had a “copper” in a “wash house” in the back garden too, although I can’t remember it being lit…

We had a washing machine in what could be called the back passage and that had an electric mangle on it. Height of technology then!

When we first got married in 1964 we bought a revolutionary Twin Tub.....one half you physically wash your cloths the other half you spun them dry.....you needed wooden tongs to transfer the hot washing from one half to the other.
You needed the twin tub to be up next to the sink because of the hose needed to drain the spinning tub of its waste water ....at the end you then had to drain the water from the washing part of the twin tub as well.9
This was a full on manual wash.....by now the kitchen floor also was swimming in water.
These days all you do is push a button and go and do something else

The Telegraph is reporting that Trump is criticising the BBC over its reporting of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

I think Trump thinks his criticism will be seen as a black mark on the Beeb’s reputation. I think being criticised by him is a badge of honour.

I hear that there are some people wanting to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Maggie (Marmite) Thatcher later this year.....who is well known for the infamous Community charge better known as the Poll Tax (eventually leading to her downfall) .....and the selling of council houses which didn't allow local councils to reinvest the financial gains from their sale into new housing stock....which started the lack of supply problems the country is experiencing today.....Also brought the birth of new Tory voters who had got rich by buying "marked down council homes" sold to sitting tenants....who then benefitted from the value of their property going sky high....many selling them later when allowed to and making vast profit.

Also the "Falklands factor" which started a wave of patriotism which helped her win the 1983 general election when she could have possibly lost it.

PS......In the early 1980's I left my job that I had started since leaving school....only to find that British Industry was collapsing under Thatchers rule.....she was at war with the trade unions and it effected the availability of engineering jobs (amongst others) that where available......and I ended up at a non-union firm paying only 50% of the wages that I had once earned (had to use my savings to top up my wages so that we could get by).

The reason that I had left my well paid job was because it was in the tobacco industry making sophisticated high speed machinery... producing cigarettes (5000 per minute)...... was because Mrs Plyms parents both died from smoking related illness's...so we felt that earning a living by those means couldn't be justified......took me 10 years to regain the lost ground in wages.......but I never regretted changing jobs.....but I couldn't have picked a worse moment.

I quoted that on Nov 8th last year......low and behold 6 months later....we have the Heavyweight Championship of the World between Donald (flip flop) Trump and Elon (chainsaw) Musk who are tonight ripping each other apart on social media saying things that must be pure joy to Russia and China.

Standing at the ring side to challenge the winner is James David ( I'll screw you for fun) Vance who seems to be evil incarnate.....and that is on a good day.

I see Musk has mentioned a link between Trump and Jeffrey Epstein. That’s bare-knuckle fighting for sure.

It’s not often I wake up and am delighted by a Labour by-election win. In Hamilton, they’ve beaten it only the incumbent SNP but more importantly. left the Reform scum languishing in third. Thank goodness for the Scots. You don’t often hear me say that.

Good to get rid of SNP.

    Labour.....8559.
    SNP.........7957.
    Reform....7088.

Locals were surprised at the size of the Reform vote....not normally seen in Scotland

I’m watching the T20 International between England and the West Indies.

I was just thinking “things ain’t wot they used to be” as young Carribean men now look to earn the Big Bucks in US baseball or gridiron football.

Then they go and take 31 runs off the 19th over. Five 6’s and a single…..England need 197.

Just returned from 10 days in Spain having not seen one bit of News for the whole time. So, have had a look about on the Footie sites and the News sites just to catch up with everything I've missed that's exciting. Sadly not a feckin thing by the look of it.

Every morning, Apple pushes a summary of what’s happened overnight at me. Or rather what they want to push at me.

    This morning, the list contained:

How to help people who don’t have sex.
The secrets of a doctor’s receptionist.

I did a double-take before I realised it was TWO items, not one

ps.....Having seen my doctors receptionist I wouldn't go near her with a barge pole.....if of course I could find one.......:emoticon-0116-evilg.

Well I can honestly say I have no current or previous interest in either of those. I also try to stay as far away as possible from Apple and Microsoft.......... they are nightmares.

This is something I'm interested in from Microsoft's news summary.... A map showing the investment projects announced by Rachel Reeves yesterday. Notice anything?
