You’re missing my point possibly. I was being rhetorical. We maybe have not spent because we simply can’t until after 30th June because we are still financially hamstrung by PSR. While other clubs seem to be able to do what they want. But when our takeover went through they were all petrified we would spend billions. We simply can’t because we are hamstrung.
I think it'll be fine mate and we'll be stronger next season squad wise by a margin. I think literally every player we're linked with would start games. Isak can't play 3 games a week all season so him and Pedro(assuming we get him) would get regular football via starts or sub appearances, which will be the same for many key positions from now on. I take the piss for fun about finishing talent, but there's no reason to worry about Newcastle's recruitment in terms of quality or ambition from the club. PSR is killing the sport because it's diluting the quality of the Premier league in terms of talent and at the centre of every discussion these days. Fans all talk about prices, good sales and accounts for example. I think people are fed up with it now.
Agree. And a reminder that we are not even 4 years in to the 10 year project, aimed at getting us to a point where we can regularly compete at top level. The owners knew it would take time to break through the dirty six on a consistent basis. But we are well on track with the plan. And that's despite further attempts from the cartel to change the rules to hamper us. We are already a million miles ahead of where we were pre-takeover.
We won something and that's all I wanted it see. I mean of course we're going to want to win more now some day, but I don't want to become like big 6 fans...
I've spent a little time watching some villa games and I've change my mind about not wanting Ramsay. He's a very good player that would definitely improve our squad.
I believe him. I think he hate watches Newcastle whilst making lots of assumptions that the team he actually supports are better. It all checks out.
Yeah, I've been digging deeper into Villa fans opinions and it seems like the first few I read, I was unfortunate enough to have stumbled into posts by the Villa fan equivalents of Roly and GG. It seems like many actually rate him very highly. The point of concern would still be his injury record, but worth a punt if we can get him in for a good price and it means we can sell Longstaff... Though Ramsey would more likely be a Willock replacement.
Luke Edwards is apparently now claiming our total summer transfer budget is actually around £60m. He needs to make his mind up, as he had us imminently spending £110m on two players a couple of weeks ago
Depends on what he is talking about - if it's amortized then £60m is actually around £300m to spend this window and then spread over the 5 years. Would give us a huge boost in the fight to get in to the top 4 consistently and probably allow us to get 4/5 maybe even 6 decent players in. Would probably mean we need to tighten the purse strings over the next few years or sell first teamers but when people are talking about £80m for Gordon having paid £40m for him 18 months ago or selling Minteh for £30m profit after a year having not kicked a ball for the first team there is potential to sell and boost the coffers other ways that just the budget's spreadsheets.
Lols. Well, first we have to wait till the big reveals on the 1st July. Then once that day comes and goes we can see what the next excuses are. At this point I’m fully expecting the “Line” to make a triumphant return. We’ll be using all our back office might to negotiate £30m for Trafford (starting at £20m and increasing in £1m increments each week til we just meet their asking price anyway!!).
One thing I have seen is talksport saying the league Cup isn't a major trophy. Talk about crying. The league Cup involves much better clubs than the Europa and conference league and they said they are majors.
