Jamaican boxing legend Mike McCallum, who was a three-weight world champion during the 1980s and 1990s, has died at the age of 68. McCallum died suddenly near his home in Las Vegas on Saturday (31 May), with the Jamaica Observer reporting that he was on his way to the gym when he fell ill and pulled his car off the road. Frederick Forsyth, the author who turned his adventures as a journalist and work with MI6 into bestselling thrillers, has died after a brief illness aged 86. Forsyth brought a reporter’s eye to his fiction, transforming the thriller genre with a series of novels including The Day of the Jackal, The Odessa File and The Dogs of War. Combining meticulous research with firecracker plots, he published a series of novels that sold more than 75m copies around the world, and won him honours including a CBE in 1997 and the Crime Writers’ Association Diamond Dagger award.
Day of the Jackal is a fantastic read. Book I didn’t want to put down. Odessa file a great novel too.

Brian Wilson - the co-founder of The Beach Boys - has died at the age of 82. In a statement, published on his website, his family said: "We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away. "We are at a loss for words right now. Please respect our privacy at this time, as our family is grieving. We realise that we are sharing our grief with the world."
The word genius is used too often but in the case of Brian Wilson completely justified. He laid down the most amazing music and was a one off talent. Thanks for all the music Brian. It was super.
