Any news about Chris Hogg joining LM at Norwich ? Might be here right under our noses. IMO not the worst choice on offer.
I would imagine it’s a contractual thing, I doubt it’s anything to do with replacing LM. After our last attempt at appointing the assistant I’m sure that’s a non starter.
Just listened to LM's first interview with the media. The main reason for leaving certainly wansn't anything to do with going 'home'. It was purely a professional decision along with Norwich City's ambition. I suppose that confirms every BCFC fan's view that we have zero ambition and no surprise why Manning decided to leave. We'll make do with O'leary, Mehmeti, Tanner, Roberts and Vyner, probably sell Atkinson(madness), and the Lord knows what's happening with Fally, Armstrong and our 35yr old striker. Our new manager will need a miracle.
I’ve really not wanted to believe this but I’m sadly coming around to this opinion. Lansdown won’t splash the cash. Just whether it’s due to FFP or simply his own decision is unclear to me. Mind you - it’s his money so I guess it’s his prerogative how to spend it…..
Liam Manning left Lommel for MK Dons after a year because he felt a clear alignment in how they want to play and develop players, Liam Manning left MK Dons after a year for Oxford because he felt a clear alignment in how they want to play and develop players, Liam Manning left Oxford for Bristol City after less than a year because he felt a clear alignment in how they want to play and develop players, Liam Manning left Bristol City after eighteen months for Norwich because he felt a clear alignment in how they want to play and develop players ..
Two words strike me listening to LM as to why he chose to go to Norwich Ambition and Direction The opposite of what he found here
Spot on Angelic. The other thing, as Clifton pointed out, was the exact same words from his previous 3 appointments. Sounds like a bloody robot.
I refuse to knock him, he made us a top 6 side, with a reduced squad and gave us our best season performance in years, suffered a great personal loss and moved on in a very professional way, he deserves to do well, best of luck to him and I hope he fulfills his own ambition and directions. Our club will move on and take us all with them.
It’s football though, my only issue I have is he was short sighted, his main interest was himself, he wasn’t bothered about long term, just the here and now. He didn’t do long term planning, didn’t consider what was best for the club in the future. When he joined we were in a reasonably healthy financial position, albeit with a small squad, but he had money to spend. He’s leaving us, despite overspending last summer, with an unbalanced squad, there has been no player progression from the academy, despite his claim to be a coach that brings young players through, he did well to achieve top 6, but I’d argue we’re in a worse position now than when he joined. He realises that and imo has moved again because he realises that, to a club that, like us when he joined, has generated cash for him to progress the team. He’s seems to jump from one club to another in order to benefit from others good work, rather than generating the funds himself. He seems to be playing out a real life game of Football manager, just my opinion of course.
I think the signings of Armstrong and Fally were folly and not entirely down to Manning, Bird and Twine have ability and could prove positive, when I mentioned reduced squad I was thinking injuries and a winter transfer window with no effort to make signings, I don't want to put Manning on a plateau but if LJ or Nige had given us a season of top 6 finish with their individual resources certain individuals would be crowing all over the place on here, so I give him some credit for that, he made progress for us. Manning has been offered an opportunity, Junior and BT installed a £800k buyout clause contract and LM has moved on, good luck to the guy and thanks.
I don’t disagree, I just feel he used money the previous manager had worked hard to provide, I gave him credit for top 6, but wonder if he’d have been able to achieve it but for the good work done previously. It does feel a bit like he jumped ship whilst his reputation is high, fearing what next season will bring. It doesn’t suggest he’s not overly confident we’ll do well next season, despite his efforts over the last 18 months.
? I dont think he got to play much football ? Well not for a prolonged period of time for a "decent" club! True we didnt have to much of a sighting of potential academy players moving up through the ranks this season. In actual fact if you look at the season in depth.. the real wider picture and our progress through it, you do see we were fortunate to have been in top 6 ! previous seasons the 6th place has been occupied a team with in excess of 70 points [ 23/24 bottom 3 were 51 50 45 27 pts ] & [ 24/25 bottom 7 were 51 50 50 49 49 46 44 ] 2024/25 both 5th and 6th were less than 70! [ city 68 ] with 10 to go 5th to 11th were covered by 7 points ....Coventry 56 City 53 Watford 49 [ Millwall had 48 Points ] so we as an acceptable above average club performed OK IN WHAT IN HINDSIGHT IS A /WAS A VERY AVERAGE 20 CLUB DIVISION!!!!!!
