I took the the sensible option and took the dog for a walk but on the way back went past a pub and saw the score on their tele and couldn't help but laugh
Watched about the first 30 minutes of the Andorra game before I'd had enough of the bore fest, couldn't be arsed tonight, rare that I am nowadays. Probably won't bother now until the WC and only then if we get to the quarters and only because its a good night in the boozer. If only this lot were just half as good as they think they are.
agreed but even so they are less than the sum of their parts where as lots of other countries are more than the sum of their parts .
.... or Wirtz for over £100 million ... who's gonna break the news to Sucky as to who's got the better deal?
For me tonight showed why I'd rather pay to watch Portugal and Spain, at least both their games were entertaining rather than grabage dished up tonight. That's not taking anything away from Senegal, the only reason I was interested in watching it is because I knew they would cause us problems even if it was only a friendly. I just look at Tuchel and I see an episode of Steptoe and Son, he;s got no pride in his appearance so why should his football be any better, when we are looking for perfection... Anyway I stole this pic from Twitter because it's very fitting after tonights dross and shows the stress after managing England for a few month... please log in to view this image This will be... please log in to view this image
Long drive back from Manchester tonight ... listened to Goldstein and Darren Bent on Talkshite ... man but Benty does spout some bollocks: "... Andorra putting 11 men behind the ball would make it difficult for anybody..." ... worra load of absolute bollocks ... Spain, Portugal, France would score at least 5 ... probably per half ... Reality check - English players are way over hyped ... we ain't winning nowt whilst Hazza leads the line and that's the cold hard truth ... same as Poland with Lewandowski ... when push comes to shove the teams with fluid rapid forwards are always going to overcome those with painfully slow and laboured build ups ... We need to wake up and smell the coffee ... and Senegal have thankfully given us an overdue Cafetiere to ponder upon ...
Mate - the Republic of Ireland drew with them ... with a goal scored by one of our academy kids ... levels! DA YOOF!!
It's an age old England problem since 1966, we never build for the future we are always building on the past and we have a manager who has no inovation, it's like waiting for the bad maggot eaten apple to fall from the tree.
He’s picked a pretty young/international inexperienced team last night and they’ve played like that after taking an early lead. You can see why managers wouldn’t trust some of these guys. We’ll inevitably get to the World Cup, made even more likely by Albania ****ing up last night. Quite a big caveat that it’s a ridiculous time for a football match when they should be on the beach. But still if you’re one of the second string given a chance this is a huge opportunity against a proper team who are up for it with a major tournament at the end of the year. Also I had to go out after the second Senegal goal and probably missed the worst of it.
Keeper getting beaten through his legs was the worst bit. to be fair to him, if he can out the lad would have just rolled it across the 6 yard box to about 2-3 mates waiting for the tap in.
Didn't watch as it's June and so international friendlies should be thrown in the bin and everyone be on holiday but, I did notice that Jordan Henderson and Kyle Walker were in the squad and both played some part. What the actual ****? Are those two supposed to be our future or something? Sackable offence just for that, Tuchel should **** off now before it's too late.
I've never rated Tuchel, he's fine when it's all going well then he gets ridiculously reactive and angry when it goes wrong. We all know it's going to go wrong and he'll start throwing tantrums at the England hierarchy and get sacked.
Fair comments, think I was just pissed off last night. I think seeing Walker and Kane, I just think seriously, don't we have anything younger, and then Cole Palmer on the bench - Saka was just running into dead ends all very one dimentional, no creativity. I think Anthony Gordon is just jinxed, the Newcastle effect, in fact I blame all of Newcastle for last night, and a bit of Arsenal.
Luckily the England job is really low pressure... I'm not arsed about these games tbh and not watched any of them. He'll be judged on next summer and that's when I'll tune in to see football almost certainly coming home right up until the point it isn't.
Haven't watched either game ... but ... I really get pissed off when we try and fit square pegs in round holes ... the best England teams (and I go right back to '66) have been those that ignore egos and our inflated ideas about the ability of English players - but instead actually play the best 'team' that we can put out - now that could change, game to game, depending on how the opposition line up - but it certainly ain't gonna involve players being shoved into unfamiliar / non club positional roles because the Manager feels he has to accommodate certain individuals or placate their clubs.
The task facing Tuchel is enormous without doubt ... ask yourself this - how many of the current England squad would get into a starting line-up for Spain, Portugal or France? The only chance we have at the next World Cup is to build a team where the collective is considerably superior to the individual components ...
