Yes that would have been good. Just when you need Billy Whitehurst!

It would be a great start.

I don't have high hopes of signing McBurnie, if we manage it then it's a real coup and sign of intent. For all the posturing about City wanting him so badly, all Sheffield Utd have to do is offer £10k a week more than we do. I'd also be surprised if Ipswich don't have a look at him considering they just lost Delap.

What I also don't want to see is him spending half the Summer making up his mind, for us to sit there waiting and are then left scrabbling around because we didn't bother doing anything else. Give him a deadline, if he doesn't decide before then, balls to him and move on.

Unless they sell I think shef u are v much set up front, got about 5 good options, as for Ipswich, I'd imagine they'll be looking to shop at a higher level than McBurnie to replace Delap, they've got Hurst for the big man option still there and can prob afford to take on a prem loan on a fair whack, I don't know, no one does, but here's hoping....if he did come here he'd be first choice no qns asked and that can mean a lot to players

Vincent Abubakar released by Hayatyspor. 31 year old striker scored 7 in 25 last season. That’s got an Acun deal written all over it

44 goals in 125 championship games. Minutes wise it's just shy of a 1 in 2 record. You'd think he'd have better options than us. Suppose if he still has a house etc in Sheffield area then I can see why we're attractive

Although it sounds like McBurnie is keen on the move to us but wants to meet the new manager first. That’s totally fair from him, and I hope we get this set up ASAP.

He hasn't exactly ripped it up on loan in the lower leagues. Fewer appearances combined for Fleetwood and Wycombe than at city. Strange how consecutive managers haven't shared your POV isn't it?

Croatian football on twitter (believe they first broke the Jakirović story) reporting we're in for Matija Frigan from Westerlo.

That would be an unreal signing but I just can’t see it. Westerlo want at least €10 million plus a hefty sell-on percentage. Hamburg are interested but think the price tag is too high.

It's common sense Jim, but not as Acun knows it.

That’s what Westerlo paid Rijeka two years ago. They will definitely want to make a significant profit on him. I’ve seen they want €10 million plus a 25% sell-on clause.

I just don’t see it, especially this summer when we don’t have an asset to sell for eight figures ourselves like Lewis-Potter and Greaves previously. We will have to sell a few fringe players and the likes of Alzate at least to balance the books.

If it was any other Belgian club except for Westerlo I would say no chance. They took Sayyadmanesh off us, we're constantly been linked with Bryan Reynolds, they bought Karol Borys when we were interested (and couldn't get a permit? can't remember) and loaned him to Maribor but when Acun spoke last summer it sounded like we would see him one day. Owner is seemingly friends with Acun. Might be 2+2=5 but I think the relationship is a bit stronger than we think.

Pretty sure that's the guy who got this strangely pleasant red card at the last World Cup:

He seemed to do well at Wycombe, and Walter did rate him to be fair. Played him ahead of Alzate at times. Rosenior liked him too but he obviously had other good midfield options and Simons was very young then.

I think he's a victim of us having this massive squad and needing to get rid of whoever there is interest in. Really don't think he's one you'd look to offload if we could choose.
