    I think.it was a Montpellier Snake but he is upside down.

    There is an excellent App called 'Seek ' which we use to wildlife and plants. Free to download.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks Ian.
    Just downloaded the app to my phone.
    I’ve been trying to identify a bird that keeps flying off before I can get too close, brown but with white markings on the wing and tail feathers, iirc, which only seem to be noticeable as it flies away.
    I will have to see if I can spot one on my next walk.

    Sounds like the bird may be a pipit of some sort. You get loads of Meadow Pipits on Stockbridge Down and i saw Rock Pipits in Cornwall back in April. There are 3 regular species in uk plus Richard's Pipit as an odd migrant. Spain has 12 species of pipit !

    I get a very demanding crow in the garden most mornings who chases the cat (18yr old silver tabby) away from his breakfast and if there isn't anything left proceeds to throw the bowl around the patio in a huff.

    We also have two chihuahuas (1 bramerita and 1 sable fox - I think, she was a puppy farm rescue so not sure) who like to chase away the pigeons but get a little bit confused when the big black pigeon doesn't fly away and gives the tiny dogs a sideways look as if to say "really"

    @RSS

    Following your picture the other day of a deer just a few metres away, I've added this short clip I took this morning at home. Well, it's not actually me but it could be.

    I have a question for all you cat lovers out there. It's often said that dog owners start to look like their pet as they get old together. My question is, is that the same for cats and do any of you look like this?

    We’re very lucky to live in a built up area but have largish garden which backs onto a small bit of woods. Have plenty of foxes & cubs at mo, resident crow, squirrels & more recently a doe that has absolutely destroyed my wife’s roses! <laugh>
