I've been banging this drum since we last qualified for Europe
25 registered with 4 HG players - 21 registered with 0 HG players

With Longy and Miley (although we don't need to register Miley) we can register 23 currently including those 2.

Currently I think Tim Krul, Fraser Forster, Freddie Woodman, Kevin Mbabu, James Tavinier, Matty Longstaff, Elliot Anderson, Adam Armstrong and Andy Carroll are the only ones we could bring in to boost HG numbers but none of them improve the squad IMHO bar Elliot Anderson. We are probably better off looking in the youth squad to see if any of them can step up.

An overview of the squad gives 22 senior players so we have space of one additional player who isn't homegrown and that probably needs to be a RW based on the below:

    GK: Pope, Dubravka
    RB: Tino, Trippier,
    RCB: Schar, Krafth, Lascelles
    LCB: Botman, Burn
    LB: Hall, Targett
    RCM: Bruno, Longstaff
    CM: Tonali, Miley
    LCM: Joelinton, Willock
    RW: Murphy
    LW: Gordon, Barnes
    CF: Isak, Osula

After that you could look at getting Krafth, Lascelles and Targett out and bring in a RCB and a LB leaving space for one more - probably a CF. Then a replacement for Dubravka OR bring in one of the keepers above to play 3rd chocie behind Pope and Dubravka

As I'm allowed to change my list, I shall now go with:

    GK - Lucas Chevalier (Lille)
CB - Giorgio Scalvini (Atalanta BC)
    CM - Malik Tillman (PSV)
RW - Arder Guler (Real Madrid)
    ST - Jonathan Burkardt (Mainz)

To be fair, it's just the CB that's changed and Scalvini has only made 6 appearances this season due to 2 big injuries, so it is, in fact, a very silly suggestion

What’s silly? Scalvini or all five?

Oh, they're probably all silly, but Scalvini is extra silly

Mind not as silly as the vast majority of my posts, so you’re alright!

Read that the transfer committee is now Howe, Howe, Nickson and Reuben. Lot on Jamie to get things sorted but it’s not necessarily an elite transfer team.

The other way of looking at it is you have:

    Positional identifier: Howe
    Highly respected talent spotter: Nickson
    Team culture expert: Howe
    Ace negotiator: Reuben

    What more do you need?

The PL to fook off with their stupid rules that help the dirty six on the pretence it is actually to protect the smaller clubs.

So all we need to do is get the other 14 clubs to all vote in the same way to help bring a level playing field to the Premier League? How hard can that be?

Easy, you tell them that without Christmas, there's no need for any turkeys, so they'll all be slaughtered.

Likewise, with football clubs, tell them that without financial restrictions saving the big six and suppressing the other clubs, they might be the next target for a huge financial takeover as there is more scope for them to grow, compete and be successful.

When you see it laid out like that, we can improve on 11 players, that's scary.

Yeah it's interesting that bar Joelinton, Schar and Murphy all the starting XI are new buys and anyone from the Ashley era are now back up who need replacing quite badly. Trippier, Burns, Barnes and Oslua are probably the best of the back up there and they are all buys in the last few years since the takeover.

perhaps our owners have this saudi tax thing in their head too much. some clubs will take the piss but not all. perhaps the going rate for PL experience is just quite high..

You could argue Man U pay a heavier tax than anyone. £35m for Bruno seemed ok. Same for Botman. £40m for Barnes, not so much. Perhaps the answer lies in the target markets.
