You have to factor in injuries, the way Everton play, and service in general. The numbers doesn't tell you everything in football. The Anthony Gordon signing was largely frowned upon and one of the things the fans said was that he only had one goal in a season. Lewin would be a different club in the bag, because he does have strengths that our other forwards don't.
Now we are good with injuries perhaps our medical team can unlock DCL's real potential.. plus Eddie is a better coach tan anyone he's worked with.
I honestly think Lewin in a free is a perfect signing given the requirement for depth and PSR down the road. I remember him before his injuries and Evertons demise and he was banging then in, so like you say at Newcastle why can't he do the same. These players we're linked with are all more than capable, but people want something new with a sexy name.
But he has a sexy name. If he’s free then it’s a non brainer. Keep Wilson and we have some different options I agree.
We could have made a move for him in January, but Howe will never sign this type of player unfortunately.
He's played 76 league games in the last 3 years, 12 goals is pathetic, and you can't put that down to injuries. He hasn't scored well for 5 years, and the only time he was scoring was a 2 year period. Anthony Gordon was 21 when we signed him and we were getting a player obviously capable of going on to much better things. DCL is 29 this season.... he's hardly had teams queuing to sign him in the last 3 years, and I'm unsure of what he'll actually bring to us, if anything. Plus factor in his wages, he's on £120kpw at Everton, which is the same as Isak, and that ain't gonna fit in.
No, no and thrice no: Newcastle United are keen on signing Ghana winger Mohammed Kudus, 24, from West Ham after missing out on Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo. (Football Insider)
I'm not sure we'll get Gyokeres, but Joao Pedro would work well for us, certainly way better than DCL
I'm pretty sure Martin Dubravka has won more trophies whilst at Newcastle than any other player in the last 70 years. That's weird.
Tbh quietly please so far - obviously not with the signings (what signings) but with the links. Forget about Gyokeres - out of our price range I'd have thought but.... GK - Trafford - ok, people know im not all that sold on him but will be a solid signing and a good long term investment. Don’t see him being massively better than Pope but he’s got 10 years on him. CB - Guehi - noises getting louder and louder. Was very excited by the prospect of him last year and captained Palace to an FA cup this year so still convinced he’d be a great signing. RW - Elanga - judging by social media posts he’d be a popular lad here. Would add that bit of flair we are lacking on the wings currently and some more pace. Him and Murphy on the RW and Barnes and Gordon on the LW would be mouth-wateringly exciting. CF/CAM - Joao Pedro - yes please! Was disappointed we missed out on him previously but he has the potential to be a top striker, little bit of Eddie's magic dust sprinkled on him would have people on the edge of their seats playing off Isak and the pace on the wings around him. Between the four of them they would be massively impressive signings if we get them - hitting all the right spots in the squad that need improvement, all EPL proven, young with room to develop and leave us with 2 XI's who could compete on multiple fronts.
We would have a decent squad with those players. Injury free and it could be an interesting season. I still think there will be someone completely under the radar who will be a top signing.
