What a hoot. Didn’t their own chief exec say ‘he was our top target but we couldn’t compete with United’ Well, he did. ****ing whoppas
I actually saw some body in Fencehouses yesterday with a Mag badge on one calf and a Liverpool badge on the other. These people have never set foot inside a football ground have they?
It's as if they can't admit a player may not want to come so they backtrack I am certain KLD/KS would have liked to keep Jobe however we couldn't and I don't see excuses at our end.
Hope this is true https://x.com/chrisantony__/status/1931693552389542215?s=46&t=26DLp2oXvFO7UDfe5HEPwQ
28000 people have signed the petition against the plans to build a new stadium on Leazes park. …. as has been well known for ages , no such plan exists
Wasn’t John Hall refused permission to build on Leazes Park/Town Moor due to environmental concerns and opposition from residents. Won’t have changed. They need to move quick cos that concrete cancer in the cheaply sourced extension is a ticking time bomb.
Leazes Park is a hundred and fifty years old and is Grade II listed. You can't just plonk a concrete building on it just because you're used to buying your own way.
They're clearly boxing themselves into a corner while pretending everything is fine. As @Nads has said the place is crumbling plus they don't own the ground the stadium is built on and, as you've said, Leazes Park can't happen. As they don't own SJP they can't sell it and moving would entail costly demolition and restitution of the site. The Town Moor can't be built on so their only options are somewhere like Scotswood Road, Gosforth Park or some other 'out of town' thing. Otherwise they'll just keep bodging SJP ... ... the most likely in my opinion.
The current regime are using the same tactics that John Hall, and others, have used for years ... ... attempt to bully the council into funding their move or trample all over listed buildings and parks. As a result of the Leazes Park petition the council will know that not every Geordie is prepared to sell themselves for the 'local' Saudi owned football club.
