By poaching Manning and his staff from Bristol, in mid-contract, we have caused the Robins to incur expense additional to what they would have otherwise incurred. The correct remedy for that is compensation. Just pay it and move on.

What if they are considering offering the top job to Hogg?

Yes, I wondered about that too 1950. Didn't Hogg hold the fort while Manning was on leave? For what it's worth, Hogg's Wikipedia entry currently describes him as Manning's Assistant at Norwich.

Yes he did and quite successfully. One or two on their board have suggested that Hogg should be given the job.

Ultimately none of know what’s going on. It just seems rare that this type of thing drags on, normally, from my understanding, you pay the compensation figure for the manager and the rest of his team are released with him.

I seem to remember a similar situation with Culverhouse after Lambert was appointed.

And for an example of a club "being awkward" over assistants following the main man when he switches clubs, look no further than McNally-run Norwich when Lambert resigned and Culverhouse and Karsa sought to go with him to Villa!

I agree, and am not surprised at Bristol's stance. It will be sorted in time and only becomes a problem if it isn't resolved by the time the players return on 20 June.

Interesting for what wasn't said as much as for what was said. Not a single mention of the Premier League; or a time scale for getting there; or developing an EPL-ready style of play to enhance our chances of surviving there. All featured large a year ago when Thorup sat in that chair. It coloured his entire approach and led directly to Knapper's accusations of inflexibility etc. "Alas, poor Thorup, you thought you knew your brief well ........"

I fully agree. The goalposts were moved halfway through last season causing major problems for Thorup who ended up getting the sack. Now everything seems to have changed again. It took ages to sort out the appointment of Manning but despite all that fiddle farting about we still have not sorted out the backroom staff let alone squad composition for next season which is not that far off. Yes, I am very critical of the new regime and wouldn't trust the new owner any further than I could throw him. I hope and pray that I am wrong but I fear I will be proven right. Robbie is sometimes too blunt for his own good but he often speaks a lot of sense as in this case.

There are many of us who want Hogg to remain.
We were in a poor run last Autumn when LM's child passed away.
Hogg took over for a month or so and got our season back on track.
Sure Manning wants Hogg more than Hogg needs Manning.

Whatever, Manning was at the helm at unbelievably got us into the Playoffs.
    Credit where credit's due.

Ps Thanks for Paul Cheesley all those years ago.
