Would have liked him to stay but we all knew the deal with this family. He was always going to move on. He played his part and good luck to him. Those fans who don't rate him probably have never watched him or base their opinion on two games a year clueless muppets. He’ll thrive with more experience around him .
Really sad to see Jobe go. My favourite player in a long time and I think he has everything he needs to go right to the top. The sell on clause means I will be watching him with pride as his career advances. It's a good deal for the club, in my opinion, as long as the replacement(s) is up to standard. Another huge sale under KLD and Speakman.
Some of the reactions i'm seeing on twitter are mental by the way. I'm pretty sure in saying that if they paid the €40m release clause we wouldn’t have a sell on %, someone can correct me there if wrong. Plus, Birmingham get nothing of the sell on % or the add ons so we'll probably end up with more than we would've if they paid the clause. The club haven't been taken for mugs, if they were mugs they would've taken the first offer.
I wonder if the release clause was $40m + 15% sell-on? Not sure if it's even possible to structure a deal like that tbh anyone know?
With Stewart, Clarke, Watson and Jobe we've turned under £10m into over £60m (if my maths is correct), if that doesn't get people on board with the model i'm not sure what will. Young players across the world should be chomping at the bit to come here and develop.
And they brought in mayenda, hume, cirkin, mundle, ballard who could al go for much much more than we paid
Yep, the assets we have set us up for long term success and sustainability. It's the only way forward for non parachute payment teams, which we are now (if we go down) so we can do it at a much higher price point. Exciting times.
Good luck Jobe, been a pleasure to watch him develop since he arrived. Cracking deal for us as well. I completely trust Speakman and the recruitment team to get a suitable replacement in.
Good luck Jobe lad, joining us has worked out canny for both you and the club, go well and get us a bit more income through those add ons and sell on % right….lets get cracking on some quality incomings
The BBC comments are full of the bitter tears of Coventry and Sheff Utd fans if anyone wants to amuse themselves.
