As I've put out that I think a lot of Dylan's songwriting I thought I'd put up a song from the film sung in a duet ' Mama You're Still On My Mind' by Dylan and Baez. Here it's by the late great Jeff Buckley....Bing Videos

A song of loss but also deep love and understanding, written by a very young Bob Dylan.

    Very simple

    Very beautiful

Just finished reading The Sure Thing by Nick Townsend which documented Barney Curley’s 2010 gamble on 4 horses. A really interesting read and I found it staggering the amount of planning that went into that particular gamble. The book is also in part biographical covering some of Barney’s many gambles, including Yellow Sam at Bellewstown in the 70s and the blocking of the only working course telephone to keep the price inflated <laugh>. It also covers other parts of the man’s life. What a fascinating and interesting character who lived life to the fullest and put plenty back in with his setting up of his charity DAFA. It also cemented my view that the big bookmakers really are utter scumbags.

I know I've posted this before on the forum but Nick Luck's interview with him is a fantastic watch - love the part where he talks about having Manduro for a while and wondering whether to run him in the Canbridgeshire off 92. The story with Joe Donnelly is brilliant too. Well worth an hour of anyone's time.

One of my favourite western songs by the great Willie Nelson.

    Great stuff.
I'm also a great fan. I think his guitar playing (he has said he's much influenced by Django Reinhardt) is much underrated.
Here's the title track from his 1993 LP Across the Borderline.

It features a wonderful vocal and a terrific acoustic guitar solo from Willie, which leaves you wanting it to be longer.

The original was from a Ry Cooder's Borderline Film Soundtrack and co-written with John Hiatt and Jim Dickinson..

Sad to hear of the death of Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. A great songwriter and fine singer his songs will live on.

Pet Sounds was probably the peak but he wrote so many wonderful songs. He fell to pieces over trying to match the Beatles in making an LP called Smile. One track to appear from it was Surf's Up which is probably a fitting tribute to this genius.

He played at the Queen's Golden Anniversary party in 2002, he was joined on stage by Eric Clapton.

I’ve been to few Springsteen concerts now going back to the mid noughties. An apprentice compared to the real ‘ultras’ there with 50+ concerts. The E Street band are the best live performers I’ve ever seen by a mile. My 14 year old lad came with us for his E Street debut at Anfield on Saturday and he got the added bonus of a Beatle for 10 minutes too. Brilliant set list of 30 songs. My lad said he understood what all the fuss was about now <laugh>.
