Fourth signing on the way. https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/2065510/Liverpool-transfer-Arne-Slot-Armin-Pecsi
Well, it seems the club is really keen to get business done early on and get key transfers in quickly. We are all for that. I just wonder, when you look at players like Wirtz and MacAlistair, Kerkez and Caicedo etc, how it is that smaller clubs like Brighton and Bournemouth can pick these up for relatively small fees earlier on while we pay a lot more later on. OK, I know they may have taken a bit of a gamble on some of their players but Brighton in particular seem to pick up good players and sell them on for a big profit.
That’s the thing. They can sign those players on potential and they can then play 35 games a season in the prem with much less pressure. One half decent season in prem pretty much doubles their value as suddenly they are prem proven. It’s highly likely all the top clubs are aware of those players but at the moment they aren’t better than what they currently have. So if lfc signed them, would spend 70% of the time on the bench only playing few games here and there. I think I read the other day that Hughes/edwards/ward like players to have a career before they join lfc. So they’ve had a couple of years experience which should help them settle in much quicker. Pros and cons. As you say, does mens you end up spending bit more, but it’s far less of a risk. The other option which it seems like club is looking to go down, you get have multi club ownership in semi decent league and you buy those players for £5-15m at 19/20 and loan them out to get that experience before bringing them back. It’s what Brighton did with the Belgian club and Chelsea do with French one.
4th? We've only made one so far. Frimpong. Earlier looked like we might get Wirtz and Kerkez but they both seem about 50:50 if we actually sign them or not.
I wouldn't sell Tsimi. Robbo isn't his former self anymore and only getting older. I wouldn't want to rely on makeshift left backs if Kerkez signed and got injured or needed a rest. If we sold Chiesa no one would even notice. He made 5 appearances, mostly as an ineffective sub. Nunez needs to go he doesn't fit Slot's model. Diaz and Jota are both good players but there's been plenty of rumours swirling around both of them.
Robertson is still twice the player Tsimikas is and offers far more in terms of leadership around the group. Not sure calling Robertson a make shift left back is fair
Kepa to Arsenal for £5m. Good signing as a cheap back up. Absolutely mental that he would want to go there though when could go and be first choice at most other clubs instead of sitting on bench. Heck, he’s the best Chelsea keeper ahead of any of their current lot.
Chelsea signing more potential. Jamie Gittens from Dortmund. Had some brilliant performances for Dortmund last year but was massively hit and miss.
Maybe defending but Tsimikas is a better crosser of the ball, especially from corners where Robbo struggles with his Daisy cutter crosses that doesn't get past first post.
Meh, not sure being able to take a corner is worth a whole foreign spot when have szobo and mac that take better ones anyway
I don't support his crack addiction. I'm currently looking for the highest player for an intervention
