I think that the only club in that list that really surprises me is Liverpool. Arsenal too, I guess, to a lesser extent.
Indeed. They have been CL regulars since 2017 (so the transfer/wage money should be there) . "Arsenal too, I guess, to a lesser extent." I assume that is in contrast (not being CL regulars for 6 seasons) . That aside ... Brighton financially are a Spurs in the making. The Sugga Daddy FCs are there I assume due to "creative accounting" .
I think that Chelsea's methods are actually being looked at, though I'm sure nothing will happen. Sold their women's team for an outrageous amount and a hotel, both to themselves. City's sponsors are just all blatantly their owners, as are Newcastle's. The whole thing is just silly, as they'll only go after poorer clubs.
Their wage bills are far higher than they like to admit Shouldn't be a surprise, given the Mousers were willing to pay Joe Cole £100k a week fifteen years ago
From time to time TalkShite play clips of their presenters saying dumb things. One of the clips they often play is a guy (accidentally saying): "Chelsea have agreed a fee with Chelsea..." Which of course is not what he meant to say. Sadly however I'm finding no humour in it. Give them another couple of seasons of financial scamming without the authorities doing anything and they'll probably give up even the pretense of accounting and just actually do this. Even after the authorities eventually stopped their 8 year contract scam, they're still doing 6 year contracts (which is what Delap got), meaning his fee for this year is actually £5 million. This can easily come out of the £100m+ profit they made last year (from selling the woman's team to themselves). What I don't get is why the other clubs aren't urging the authorities to take action, particularly Newcastle.
There's also the creative accounting with Strasbourg that needs looking at, too When they sold Diego Moureira to (in effect) themselves last summer it was obvious what they were up to, if the handful of loans hadn't already made it abundantly clear
Plettenberk says we're after Copenhagen's 19 year old CM Victor Froholdt, who looks uncannily like a Danish Oliver Skipp Interestingly, the comparisons don't stop there, as he plays a lot like Skippy did before his various ankle injuries: he's primarily a box to box midfielder, though he regularly intercepts the ball in order to start his forays forward Leverkusen also looking at him Sod it, let's have a comp Tenacious little bugger, isn't he?
I'd assumed he'd make the move to Leeds permanent (they're certainly keen). I wonder if this is related to growing rumours that Son could be on his way out (if the right offer is made) this summer?
InterLive say we're looking at Inter (duh...) CB Yann Bisseck That would be the Yann Bisseck who came on in the second half of the CL final, and went off again within ten minutes after doing his hamstring And would have cost us peanuts a couple of years ago as he was playing for Aarhus
Angel Gomes has agreed to join Marseille. I know the hacks had linked him with Spurs but not sure if the club ever actually had interest in him. Either way he’s off the table now
Would have been useful for HG numbers and adding some actual creativity to our midfield as he pings through balls through the centre like none of our CMs seem to even try, but without the ball at best he's easily brushed past while at worst he can be a passenger
I guess we’ll never know if the club actually wanted him. But hasn’t stopped people saying he snubbed Spurs.
I've never seen him as anything other than another Holtby or Zeki Fryers. Any interest being based on getting him 'on the cheap' and finding out that's still a bad deal.
It did seem the main benefits of him were to fill a quota and a free transfer rather than actual ability. Be interesting to see if he gets anymore England caps now Carsley isn’t manager
Being a free transfer, have to wonder if his wage demands were enough for us to say nope Considering the report that Mbuemo wants £250k a week to join Man Utd, five times his Brentford salary, have to wonder if this might become a theme of the summer for the vast majority of clubs
Already a theory on r/coys that the players we're being linked with was the final straw for Levy A bit harsh on Victor Froholdt, as a deal for him and Bardghji for January would be a tidy piece of business...
