... people make out it's some kind of dirty trick?

Surely, if people are happy to post, they should be happy to stand by what they've said.

It doesn't happen so much, on here, but a quick look at social media, RTG, etc, and posts/threads are being bumped. The bumpees are squealing like a man with his foreskin stuck in his zip and saying it's not fair, 'we're all Sunderland together so let's not argue' ignoring the fact that they wanted to when it suited them.

The campaigns to sack RLB, get KLD out, drop Mayenda, etc, were hysterical and ultimately wrong.

What's certain is that the same people would be all over the forums now shouting 'I told you so' if they'd been right.

Some always claim they're realists but the reality is that they were wrong in claiming we'd fail to go up ...

... the realists are those who said we would :emoticon-0103-cool:

Well now that we’re promoted I can say that I never posted that we were going to be. But honestly I was quietly confident all along that it was going to happen.

People should make peace with the fact we're all susceptible to getting it severely wrong and with that knowledge either taper your expectations/predictions or just being fine with people pulling that back up and seeing how wrong you were. There isn't a person on this forum who hasn't got it wrong at some point so it shouldn't be such a big deal. I do it all the time, football is an emotional rollercoaster and it's impossible to keep that in check 24/7 365.

Wise words made and I agree with you.

My issue, and I make no bones about it, is being lectured like I'm some kind of feeble minded rose-tinted dope for believing in my club ...

... there was a time when that was how it was, before people became entitled and thought they always knew best.

The only things that people say that bother me are 'opinions' they can't back up. I can’t get my head around not at least having a well backed up reasoning for saying something.

Also, people have the right to call out peoples opinions if they don't agree, that's the point of a discussion board, positive or negative.

This thread*, on RTG, shows exactly what I was talking about.

People post their opinions which they defend vigorously

Other people disagree and are shot down

When, after some time, the original views are quoted the original posters are outraged and start lashing out.

This sums it up pretty well ....

    Boredom said:
'Keeps putting a smile on my face for all the moaning on here this last season. It’s always the same people as well! Hopefully a lesson in humility for them…. Or maybe not hah
You can tell from their reactions to having their posts bumped that they'll never learn a thing.'

'Some hold their hands up and say fair play. Which is decent of them really. Got to learn to take it if giving it. Sadly you’re right some would rather their negativity had proven right, rather than enjoy the fact we have been promoted and the club is being ran well as a success. Humility is a mark of character imho.'

While I agree with this view, I’d argue that the ones who need to learn this lesson most are the ones currently getting pulled up for it. Wouldn’t be happening so much if they weren’t doing the whole ‘well actually I was right at the time’ nonsense. They weren’t right at the time. They were looking at a long term process through a short term lens. Too much of that goes on online these days amongst our fanbase (and most others tbf).

There was a poster, on this forum, who was continually banging away about the failure of the '5 Year Plan' despite us only being 3/4 years into it.

It was relentless and anyone who attempted a response was shot down by him and his likeminded friends.

Counting down the time to when you can post 'I was right, I told you all' is slightly demented.

Those who actually campaigned for protests against KLD, Speakman and the club were wrong at the time and proved wrong now ...

... in fact it's hard to see how they could be more wrong.

Being Right On The Internet is an absolute addiction it seems. There are one or two little virgins on RTG who are absolutely seething that SAFC have been promoted this way. I'm just glad that I was proved to be Right All Along on this one:emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0105-wink:

Being told you're part of the problem because you’re ‘accepting mediocrity’ is bad enough …

… but when you’re being lectured by idiots who do nothing more than whinge on forums it’s pitiful.

If these people had the courage to actually do something I might have a shred of respect for them …

… but they don’t even deserve a shred.

Anyone who boasts about not going to support their club, and encourages others to join them, is no supporter at all in my opinion.

The know it all doom monger who ridiculed Sunderland but now just wants to enjoy our success with his fellow supporters responds ....

'With respect only you would use this fantastic joyous moment to try to score points.

I will leave it there because I dont want to spoil a brilliant day by stooping to your level.

I dont mind engaging in good natured banter but you are behaving like a tit. Enjoy the day.'

Funny how the doom mongers are always happy to argue, for months, but don't want to argue when they're proved wrong <laugh>

There's now a thread on RTG specifically complaining about threads being quoted/bumped that make people look idiotic ...

... perhaps it'll make them think twice in future although leopards rarely change their spots tbh.

This is a clever quote from someone mocking the 'negative realists' but the whole thread is quite funny.

People developed a deep hatred for Speakman based on very little, quite childish in my opinion ... even worse they can't let it drop.

"Speakman is just another pompous (competent), arrogant (confident), gobshite (eloquent), pretentious (doesn’t have a Mackem accent) smart arse (intelligent) who’s stealing a living (being paid adequately for doing the job he was hired for) from our club. Get rid."

Had a read through that thread, and cant see anything wrong with anyone bumping the thread.
It's locked to further replies now though....odd behavior by the mods on there.

Locking threads that people are simply quoting is weird but typical of the RTG Mods tbh …

… there’s a relentlessly negative clique who seem too pally with the Mods.

It leads to a very strange tone on that forum.

I agree about the strained tone

I previously mentioned a poster you can't argue with or talk about. Soon afterwards a thread on there was locked with the message "X is absolutely not a bot and is a real woman" like something out of George Orwell's 1984.

I'm not even sure Roger owns it any more.
