That’s where the likes of Doyle and mepham come in prem squad players can make an impact but instant players that are top level champo signings
I think we have players who have lots of talent and ability, they are gaining experience but I am a little worried about our pace and physicality across a number of positions. I’d like that to be addressed along with some additional experience to help these young lads reach their potential. nice to be talking about the challenge of the premier league despite it being a tough one
I am in the minority I suppose Sadly I think we need virtually an entire team replacement if we are to survive
think that will come, if we stay up, then there is more scope and money its part of the project, small changes now, bigger rewards later
For those that dont know, 363 is the amount of messages Mighty Mark sent to @JimHeron92 on twitter after he said Jobe was a "big stiff idiot". Anyway...
I do mate yes. He has the most important attribute any player can have - great with both feet. Always got his head up, comfortable in really tight spaces and can pass. Balance is superb as well, just glides around the space. Stronger on the ball than he might look too. I think there are similarities between him and Neil. They both see the full 360 degrees so well. He has a lot of growth in him yet I believe. Not sure what the fee would be, but I think he would be a really smart play for us if it is reasonable.
I think he’s a solid championship CB no better for that price I’d rather him than mepham for a squad option as he’ll be useful if we go down he’s not PL standard
A great part of the enjoyment has been watching the 'on pitch' development of our young players and the fascinating way they've worked out what to do in games. I really don't want to lose that by benching them and bringing in 11 'safe pairs of hands' to be honest. Do that and we're no different to Burnley who seem to change their team every other season. We've attracted young ambitious players, who are now attracting serious attention, by giving them the opportunity to play ... ... after having achieved what we asked of them I don't want to see that potential cast aside for a desperate attempt at survival tbh. We've seen Bellingham 'thrown in at the deep end' and initially struggling but has fast tracked his own development, the same has happened with Hume, Mundle, Mayenda, Rigg, etc, and it's wonderful to see. There's been a fundamental change in the club, the likes of which I've never seen before ... ... I really don't want us to abandon that for what is, in reality, hard cash and little more.
Can cover right back too can’t he? Not saying Mepham can’t but I feel like we will bring in this type plus a starter at centre half, I know everyone’s hoping for singo but I’d be lying if I said I knew anything about him other than he looks mint on YouTube haha
This! And,if we can add some quality that will also help our young lads to get better.Good players can improve massively when they have better players around them.
Think Mourinho raved about him iirc...he has the physicality and the pace. For that price, we should definately take him,if we get the chance.
This is the reason why I have a little bit of doubt. I don't see Morton as a traditional 8 as such (though I'm sure like Neil, he could play there). I see him more as that deep lying playmaker. I think we need a more combative profile in that role to compliment or offer something different to Neil, rather than someone who does the same job. Maybe I'm underestimating one or both of those players and they're capable of far more than I can see, I just think he's a Neil replacement rather than a Jobe replacement.
