He's probably already better than half our squad, but Howe hates youth I think. He's probably a Mitchell signing, so he'll get dealt with.
Selling Almiron and Wilson during the Jan '24 transfer window, if the reported interest was real, would've been a very good idea, no argument. I think I was reasonably noisy about it at the time too. I can still understand why they chose not to 'weaken' the squad at that point though. Yes, Target has been poor due to injuries. That's about it though. Barnes I also argued against at the time of signing, but I can acknowledge that he could now be considered a reasonably successful transfer - his goal scoring contributions this season helped us finish as high as we did.
They want more than 60m mate they see Cunha going for 62.5 and they value him higher. **** him and them. If they want to spend 65m and £250k a week then we walk away. Thats ludicrous for a player who has done it on one or two seasons. It’s silly season now. We buy from abroad.
Yeah, agree. I said "over £60m". It was more in response to Roly stating they had agreed £45m. I hope they spend over £65m for him, or get rejected.
Apparently we've approached Fulham regarding the signing of Rodrigo Muniz. Interestingly, Fulham are also said to have recently asked us about the availability of Joe Willock. Perhaps there's a mutually PSR beneficial bit of trading to be done...
We signed Trippier, Bruno, Botman, Isak and Tonali all while we werent even in the champions league, these are the level of signings we need to make, it should be easier to do it now but is it?
I haven't seen enough of him to make that call. I'm not at all surprised that you have that opinion though
Last time we qualified the press were all “oh, watch them go now” yet we didn’t do anything. It’ll be the same this summer, we should have money from huge increases in revenue, we should have pull, yet somehow we’ll still have a hugely underwhelming window. I don’t get it.
Dude he hasn’t played a full 90 minutes the entire season. Hes either subbed off or on the bench, and if you’re telling me UCL qualification and PSR shackles removed means we’re attempting to sign Raul Jimenez’s understudy then I give up!
Excellent - a striker that won't mind playing second fiddle then. And Fulham fans seem, on the whole, to rate him really quite highly. Many comments about how he is a high quality player, a player with a high ceiling, great with the ball at his feet and a good finisher. They may be wrong and you right though - like I say, I haven't watched enough Fulham games myself to have a fully informed opinion.
Didn't we sign Tonali, Livramento and Hall? I know some weren't happy at the time but if we got three players of that level this time around for positions we need (rw, cb, striker/gk) then I'd be pretty happy. Ps. And Barnes and Minteh (who is exactly the kind of player some on here are complaining we don't buy).
Yeah, we spent well over £100m that summer, as well as commiting to spend another £28m with the Hall loan. Signed multiple top quality players. It was a very ambitious and successful transfer window, where our scouting and transfer team got a lot spot on.
We genuinely signed 5 young players who would all be in our first team now if Minteh hadn't had to be sacrificed to the PSR gods. I doubt we'll have as successful a window as that for some time. I recall some of the narrative at the time was that it was underwhelming but I said then that people need to decide what they wanted. Even two years later we have fans complaining that we need bigger name signings who are first team ready but also young and also unknown and good value. Unless we sign an 18 year old from a little club for under 10 million who is good enough to play for Real Madrid and also already a household name they're going to complain. Even then they'd say we needed 6 of them. It's fun
