Confirmed: Russell Martin has been sacked

Changing subject slightly and just had a chat with my Kilmarnock supporting colleague who said the following:

"Hopefully he plays the same way as he did at Saints. I love it when we play an old firm team and they insist on slow build up as it's easier to defend against. Good luck doing that on a farmers field in December or our 5 year old astro turf pitch"

I did reply by saying he'll probably stick 5 past you now you've said that

Solak apparently messaged Jim White to publicly praise Martin. Is it me or is that a bit weird? I don't remember other club owners sending messages like this about managers they've recently sacked.

Still, if (when?) the football management stuff doesn't work out, at least we can be sure Russ will still be able to make a living... by starting a cult.

 

I think Solak respected Martin alot....hence the reason he took to fire him.

 

I think that if we had had a 20 point type season Martin would still be here. Martin alluded to that as well in his MNF appearance

 

Excellent move by Russell there. Putting batter on an Avocado will go down very well in Glasgow.

I'd agree if he was saying it off the record. I just find it a bit odd to comment publicly.

 

It’s odd. He sacked him, we’ve just appointed a new manager. Why make a public comment?

 

To be fair to Solak, it wasn't a public comment. It was a text sent to Jim White, who then made it public.

 

I wish him well at Rangers. I don’t get the negativity towards him.
I would have liked the style to be varied a bit to suit the fact that we have liabilities in the team like Stephens, but I think we would have got more points last season if he had stayed and would be pretty confident for next season.
Just my view and it doesn’t mean that Still doesn’t get my full support given where we are.

 

I doubt that Jim White read that out without Solak's permission.

 

No ill will to him before now. Seemed a good guy, just out of his depth in Premier League. Hope he fails horribly at Rangers though as they are a horrible club
