This re Bernie Saunders highlights the attacks on democracy in the US can but hope his warnings are heeded and Trump is reined in along with those hanging on his shirttails and the grey shadows in the background pulling his strings. It may have been a different story had he won the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016, and 2020. I didn't know this from the article "His brother, Larry, is 90 and lives in Oxfordshire. He stood as a Green candidate in David Cameron’s old parliamentary seat in 2016.
    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news...den-billionaires-and-why-the-democrats-failed
Some excerpts first this condemnation of the Democratic establishment.
"He point blank refuses to get into Trump’s administration – its excesses, surprises, non-surprises, without first walking through everything that was already wrong with the US. “What the Democrats have to absolutely make clear is this: we’re going to take on the billionaire class. They’re going to start paying their fair share of taxes. We’re going to have healthcare for all people as a human right. We’re going to have a strong childcare system that every American can afford. We’re going to make public colleges and universities tuition-free. We’re going to create millions of jobs transforming our energy system away from fossil fuel. We’re going to build housing – boy, housing is like it is here, just a huge crisis. We’re going to build millions of units of low-income and affordable housing. Do Democrats say that? No.”

He then goes on to lambast the current administration.
“We don’t usually have presidents suing the media, threatening the media if they write bad stories about them. We don’t usually have presidents threatening to impeach judges. We don’t have presidents suing law firms. You add all that together, it is a movement for authoritarianism.”

It's followed by a reference to project 2025 a blueprint to dismantle the US government and the funding for the Heritage Foundation. as it keeps all donations secret. Lots more to on the caving in of the media, the curbing of any Republican dissent whereby Elon Musk would say, “All right, you are going to be primaried i.e. a candidate will be fielded against you and Trump will support your opponent. I will put in unlimited sums of money to elect your opponent.”

Have a read, there's some hope for the future.

I like Peter Stefanovic because he always gets the facts.
Only yesterday one of my sisters in law posted a photo on Facebook, showing a rubber dinghy filled with asylum seekers.
Normally I ignore these posts but, on this occasion, I couldn’t stop myself from pointing out that although the government will get criticism for the high number of boats crossing the channel the people who are actually responsible for this happening won’t be criticised at all.
I told her that the people responsible are the Tory government over the previous 14 years for the part they played in allowing the EU referendum and then basically championing the Leave campaign.
Farage, obviously, for his blatant lies about immigrants.
Those who fell for the lies and voted for Leave and all those people that kept the Tories in power which enabled this to happen.
All of them need to accept the part they have played in this crisis instead of just playing the blame game.
What I didn’t realise, until watching that video clip is that non EU countries have an asylum seeker return policy.
The Tories not negotiating to have one included in the Brexit deal should be publicly ridiculed.

I did say previously that Reform would face a crisis before the next general election and that the media would turn against them too. I am surprised how quickly they are falling apart.

As i said, Reform are given too much credibility. The only thing they will achieve is to split the Right Wing Vote. Starmer has nothing to fear from Reform. Reform have been seriously over-rated. Farage cannot manage his own party. They are a complete shower.

I expect they will ultimately come 3rd in tomorrow's by-election. They are just a fad for the unthinking patriots with their skin heads , sun burn and wife-beater shirts. They have never been nor never will be a proper political party. Just a collections of pub bores and bigots.

Immigration has nothing to so with Brexit. Brexit neither started nor stopped the small boats. It is due to the failure of capitalism and the inability to redistribute wealth.

    Disagree.
Brexit has led to an increase in the boat asylum seekers because they now know that we can’t just send them back to an EU country under the Dublin Treaty.
And, imo, it’s also led to an increase in nett immigration because we are giving more visas to people from non EU countries who bring their families with them.
When in the EU immigration was more fluid with people maybe working in the Uk for short term and then returning to their home country and being so close to their own country they didn’t all bring their families with them.

But immigration is not unique to the Uk or Europe. The same issues apply to placws like America abd Australia which have nothing whatsoever to do wuth Brexit. It is not something thst can be prevented but simething that needs to be managed. It is natural and cannot to stopped.

Trump threatens to 'terminate Elon's Governmental Subsidies and Contracts'

Donald Trump is going on a tirade on Truth Social against Elon Musk, saying:

Elon was ‘wearing thin,’ I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted (that he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!

In a separate post, Trump added:

The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts. I was always surprised that Biden didn’t do it!”

    Suspected by many.
"Elon Musk: 'Donald Trump is in the Epstein files'
Elon Musk just claimed that Donald Trump is in the Jeffrey Epstein files, saying:

Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!

    He went on to say:

Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out."

It's like a really chavvy break up. Tomorrow's tweets....

"Just me and my princess now, no time for snakes and liars"

Meanwhile Musk will be posting really **** Tommy Shelby memes about loyalty, or utter cringe about standing beside or behind him, never in front.

Stay tuned kids, it's going to be ****ing embarrassing for both.
