Rats starting to leave the sinking ship I presume? Quite frankly I think he's a legend in his own mind that has never really lived up to his hype so I wouldn't be too sorry to see him leave. Perhaps Twine was in the passenger seat as I see him as a possibility to go with Liam given their love-in for each other and he is also someone that really never stepped up his game for the challenge, although he can leave his expertise for dead ball free kicks in our house. I would like to see our new manager (please don't demean them by naming them coach) have a freedom to change our playing philosophy to a different style (more flowing and enjoying) and then to hire the right people at the right position and play them there all the time (none of this playing players out of position and making them uncomfortable) because that would be a major deficit. I have taken Liam's departure as an opportunity to change the record and see what's out there in the new manager department because, despite the fact that he took us to our first play-off in 17 years, some of the games under his tenure were absolutely diabolically boring and hard to watch. Let's see where the chips may fall and hope we up the ante to bring in someone who has had a great career in football and has the ability to bring a ragged bunch of players into the light of how to play the "beautiful game" for the supporters to enjoy. Good luck to the good ship "Bristol City" and all who sail in her. :emoticon-0137-clapp

One that I was making on this forum in 2019 ... The club had to address its spending.

Other clubs seem to spend. Boro, Leeds …. And we have the Bears income.
How can other clubs offer big wages and we can’t - but we seem to be on the fringe of FFP all the time?

What Bears income? Ashton gate is loaned to both of us. So the income it gets from the bears is not city’s it’s the puma group or what ever they call it.

I get the firm impression that when clubs are looking for replacement managers the potentials, for let's say 4 or 5 clubs, would probably put us low on their first choice list. Is there something that unattractive about us or has our sour history of messing things up come back to haunt us during this important hunt. Rob Edwards would be my choice and I think he has the right temperament to get us heading in the right direction and it will be interesting to see what set-up he prefers and which of the current players would he want to keep? In the event that both Mehmeti and Twine follow Liam to Norwich the search for forwards will be critical because we need some players that can score with the slightest of chances and do it regularly. Next season has taken on a possibly exciting change of course for Bristol City and the first and most important part of that equation is getting the new manager on board as soon as possible, but first make sure he was always your first choice and not the backup. Second best is not what we deserve so go out and get the job done - simples!

I don’t follow other clubs and their managers tbh, so I’ve only really started looking since it was obvious LM was leaving, so really dont have enough knowledge to make an informed choice. They all seem much of a muchness.

My concern is more around the fact that I don’t trust our head honcho’s enough to be able to make a choice either. I don’t want them to be rushed, but on the other hand I really don’t want another 6 week process only to end up with an internal appointment either. Let’s just make a decision and get it sorted.

The sooner the better in my books as it will give him time to settle before the real battle starts. With both Mehmeti and Twine rumoured to be leaving to join Liam at Norwich the first order has to be forwards who can score more than the departures as that was one of our more weaker points last season. We'll just see.

we should drop the attention being given to Norwich and LM he is now part of our past history and a positive part at that .
and move on and get into the New manager at City as final interviews are currently taking place and we should know before Tuesday!

The pace we do things at AG we’ll be picking up scraps nobody else wants when we finally do sign a replacement for LM.

we do seem to move quite "determinately" or on appearance quite slow. On the manager side of " transfers" there are those in work and out of work! A lot of those in work will have likely put their names forward and some of those out work ...via agents will have expressed an interest.

if a club has 1 particular manager they want they can chase them and like Norwich IT is quick. City may have 1 in mind and weighing up the consequences of having to pay compensation ... which now gives them a edge as have recieved a rather large sum for LM.
WE LIKELY HAVE NOT SEEN THE END OF MANAGER CHANGES in the championship yet?

for those that are impatient the window for transfers is on a few days old and a few clubs not yet tidied up their retained lists! I am extremely patient, and allow things to move at the pace that would alleviate any negative aspects! i believe all will come good at the end of July as we start a fresh season with XXXX XXXXXXXXX in charge and 3 new players under our belt!

Rob Edwards linked to both Bristol City and Middlesbrough
As reported yesterday, sources including The Yorkshire Post intimated that the former Luton and Watford manager was “interested” in the Bristol City position if it became vacant, which it quickly did when Manning was revealed as Johannes Hoff Thorup’s replacement at Carrow Road. Edwards guided Luton to the Premier League two years ago before being fired in the middle of a dismal 2024/25 season in which the Hatters were relegated to League One twice. If Edwards was on the shortlist to take over at Ashton Gate, conflicting sources imply that the unexpected Middlesbrough vacancy may have shifted his focus.Journalist Graeme Bailey has suggested that Edwards is “in contention” for the position after Carrick’s dismissal on Wednesday afternoon, alongside former Nottingham Forest and Leicester City coach Steve Cooper and Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson, who has Championship experience with Blackburn Rovers.
Given Middlesbrough’s larger budget, they could be a strong draw for a coach like Edwards, just as Norwich was for Manning, who moved to a club with more spending power despite finishing in the bottom half of the Championship table, seven places lower than the Robins.

I'm with you all the way on that comment Angelic as we constantly shoot ourselves in the foot by either lack of action or good business acumen. The problem that I see is that one person rules the roost and without that person on your side on all things football the new man can fail quite quickly and I can't see it happening. Go and get Rob Edwards and make him an offer he can't refuse but if you feed him mushroom manure he may end up elsewhere - like Middlesbrough. I would like to be a fly on the wall during hiring interviews just to hear what is said about the commitment the new manager will get from the top down. The support that any new manager gets is critical for all concerned as that is the basis for the whole team set-up and only when we have a settled competitive side can we move forward. If indeed both Twine and Mehmeti leave then I don't think the loss of goals they produced should be easy to replace with more prolific players up front who can actually score. It will be whatever the prophets allow but it had better not be as boring as in previous managerial tenures, as a return to tippy tappy across and backwards football is not what we want anymore. I truly think that until such time as Lansdown has the balls to sack both Tinnion and John boy and bring in professionals that know how to do the job, we will continue down the same old apathetic road and ask the same old questions.
