Tells you how little he bothered to learn about the club in his four years with us.

Read that Palace will not play in Europe next season due to the multi club ownership rules, Eze might take that as his cue to join the mighty Champions League bound Spurs

I'm hearing that we're trying to sign Chelsea defender Alfie Gilchrist. He was on loan at Sheffield United last season.

He's gonna be Ashley Cole's assistant.

(Would actually be a good signing if true.)

We certainly have a vacancy for a left back.

AUSSIE WONDERKID EXPECTED TO BE ANNOUNCED

Jaylan Pearman has taken the A-League by storm this season when featuring for his Perth Glory side. Playing 12 games, Jaylan has scored 4 and assisted 3 while achieving an average match rating of 7.3.
Furthermore, Jaylan won the U20 Asian Cup with Australia and Daniel Bennie.

Pearman’s contract expires this summer with Perth Glory and is expected to join QPR in July.

At only 19, Pearman is certainly a player to keep a very close eye on over these next few years.

… wonder kid might be a stretch but seems promising if true.

Let's see how many of them establish themselves in the Championship and then the Prem, preferably with us. There is a danger that they are being recruited simply in order to fatten them up for sale to the highest bidder.

True, but the "fattening them up" process involves them becoming established first team players.

The frustration would be that we blood them through their early patchy periods and they leave at the first sign of success - although with the exception of Eze, very few seem to signicantly progress after leaving our first team - Furlong/Manning?

Had the club not ****ed up so predictably we’d have had two valuable players there but Bright OS is probably the best example.

We are one of the ‘have nots’ in a division with an increasing number of ‘haves’. This is a sensible direction as frustrating as it will be at times but there isn’t a better one I can see.

Developing young kids can't be a business model because they just get poached by PL clubs for scant compensation.

Signing 18-19 year olds for little money but with a potential big sell-on seems like a sensible way to go.

That's great in theory but they are few and far between. Eze being our greatest example of that. Turning a profit on players is vital to a club in our situation but then it becomes a catch 22 as in losing your best players each season and limiting the ambitions of any achievements.

Benham acquired Brentford in 2012. The develop and sell model got them to the PL in 2021.

However, his first investment was in 2006 and in 2009 agreed a £1m annual investment for 5 yrs, presumably with more input into the running of the club. Promotion to the PL in 2021, fifteen years after his first investment.

It's hard to be specific about how long we've been trying to emulate their model (if we are) but it took them at least 15 years!
