Well it's all over and the 20,000 are now back in their homes, some of them having met their neighbours for the first time, and maybe thought ''Can't we do this more often'' :)

    Ruptured Baker's Cyst.
I never knew such a thing existed, nevermind a ruptured one. But after an overnight stay in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary I'm now well aware of them. Was sent there by my GP for further investigation of a knee problem which has kept me unable to walk for the last month or so - a problem she had been unable to pinpoint.
A scan of the knee and lower leg looking for DVT discovered the 5 by 2 by 1 cm cyst tucked away in the back of my knee, with a small rupture draining fluid into both the knee and my calf causing pain in both.
That's the good news - the bad news is that waiting for it to drain completely is the best course of action. More days in bed ahead for me, days spent wondering what affliction will strike me next...

I feel for those currently suffering. After my spell in hospital, it has taken an age to rebuild my muscle strength. Still about a stone under weight, although I can keep going on the garden far longer than a month ago without needing a break
My blood pressure must be under doubt, though, caused by this German company. It is a long story of the strimmer and me, but I hope that all German companies are better with customer service than this one.

I'm sorry to say this Frenchie but customer service in Germany leaves a lot to be desired.

I remember walking out the hospital with my new hearing aids for the first time and said FK it's noisy out hear (i mean here), how did I cope with that all these years.
Wait til you get in the supermarket with all the fans and your wife dealing with pots pans and crockery in the kitchen. Remember you can always turn them off which I do when near kids! :emoticon-0102-bigsm

My wife is coming over loud and clear. My excuse of not hearing what task she has in mind for me has disappeared.

I tried that a few years ago - the GP wasn't interested, told me I'd have to get them privately. The ones I bought are now near the end-of-life stage, and I don't fancy forking out another £1500 for new ones - probably nearer to £2000 by now.

I have sent a message to my daughter who runs an ear clinic to see if she knows how to avoid going to a GP.

It would appear that in Buckinghamshire, if you are over 55 you can self refer to the hospital, but she doesn't know if that applies in Scotland. Many GPs refer people to Specsavers who will give the option of NHS ones.
