they had an appartment with off road access too... one of you would have stayed with them or did it a rounds? one parent stayed for a 1hr, the other would have food and drinks, then swap? not both at the same time,
I remember when it happened. We had friends who said they did the same. Went in a big group and took turns to check on sleeping kids. I couldnt believe it and told them so. I got the impression at the time it wasnt that rare. When my kids were younger we never left them. Never even had a babysitter come into the house tbh. Just never could see the point. I have never bought into the theory they caused her disappearance though. I just dont see it at all. The evidence doesnt add up or they would have been prosecuted imo. Find it hard to imagine any scenario where they have the time to make it so hard to find any trace. Abduction much more likely, sadly.
Logically speaking you're quite right and I'm the last person for conspiracy theories tbh. Like everyone else I've pondered what could've happened and hope she'd be found. There's only one scenario that would implicate the parents and make sense in my opinion, see what you think. The parents, both doctors, can relax at dinner because they know their children won't wake up. That's because they've given them simple sleepytime drugs they've obtained from work and do this on every holiday. They 'help' their friends and it's all very smart and harmless. But, on this occasion one of the children is overexcited, is sick and chokes on her vomit because she can't wake up. A normal couple would call for help when the child is discovered but they're doctors so know she's dead. That means they'll be prosecuted, when the toxicology report comes back, lose both jobs and see their lifestyle completely destroyed. Not only that, their friends, who are complicit will be investigated. The only way out is if the girl vanished so the cause of death will never be known.
Couple of things there dont seem plausible to me. 1. I dont see all those in the group being able to keep quiet on something like that. The more people who know a secret, the less likely it remains a secret. 2. There seems so little time for anyone to hide a body so well it never shows up again. There were some pretty extensive searches of the local area nearby in the days after. 3. I suppose in my mind I cant reconcile why you would keep pushing for media coverage, searches etc if you were hiding something. We may never know, which is an awful thought in itselt tbh.
Same goes for the kidnapper to be fair. I hope they find something this time though and clear the parents ... ... if they're innocent this must all be agonising .
My kids never leave my sight wherever we go and more so abroad, it wouldnt even enter my head to do what they did, if my child was missing I dont think I would fancy a game of tennis the next day either.
i recall there is an interview where they were asked about if they had anything to do with it, instead of out right saying no, who could say that they laughed and then Gerry was stuttering saying there is no proof
This new search, which is being carried out by German police assisted by local Portuguese, seems to me like there is subtext that the public is unaware of. They know that after this amount of time they're not going to find her, but there is potentially someone out there sitting in their California mansion who knows more, they're suddenly sweating and panicking that this event is in the news again. The world has changed recently, those who had protections are perhaps not so sure of that in 2025.
I genuinely hope that the family get closure at some point. I don’t buy into all the conspiracies. Although I also hope that the families of other children who have gone missing and never been found get closure as well. Even if their children have never been given anywhere near the amount resources and media coverage that the McCann girl has had.
They’ll only get it once they know what happened. Its highly unlikely that they ever will find out imo.
If my child was missing due to persons/reasons unknown, the last thing I would fancy is a game of tennis. If I'd been directly involved in her disappearance and death, the last thing I would fancy is a game of tennis. Either way, it doesnt look good. I'd be constantly circling the area, asking for local help and squeezing into every nook and cranny in the hope of finding her. The only explanation I could think of is that maybe the police advised against them from getting involved in the search, a possibility if the police suspected them being involved straight away. For them, sitting in a hotel room or lobby, waiting for police information would have been hell. So maybe a game of tennis was a way of passing time and coping, relieving at least 1% of the tension. If the police did not restrict their movements, then a game of tennis just reinforces the fact that the couple are just weird.
I just mean the parents must have had so many people around them from the moment the police arrived. And likely before. Any potential kidnapper may have been well away in a car by the time the police arrived. I really do hope they get some answers. It is not impossible that as time passes people feel the need to speak up. Or that science improves to unlock bits of evidence.
Yeah agreed. If their story is true and they were out for a meal with friends when she went missing, then they still have to take a lot of responsibility for leaving the kids on their own. That thought would have never even crossed my mind when my kids were that age.
Any instructions to stop looking for your missing 3yo, and play tennis, would be met with a response of. 'Go and get f*cked' by most people tbh. I'm not usually one for conspiracy theories but there are so many things about this case that jar. Perhaps the McCanns are just weird, but innocent, and simply come across as weird. The German police are convinced their suspect is guilty so lets hope they're right and find some DNA.
