Joe is a crock. I thought last season he did well and all looked better for him but once that hamstring went thst badly he was basically back to being a massive risk for any club to touch. I would want to keep quansah 100% but know he needs to play games to improve. Gomez has to go. If nothing else he fails the height test anyway Crying shame he got injured again but there you go.
You can never tell. His direct comments do not suggest he is adverse to moving. But the club needs to balance the books and thry are down the league so he's always going to be pushed isn't he? There's so many agendas and pure made up fluff these days you can only go by a direct quote and he says he has options and its a long summer
Signing of Frimpong just reduces Gomez to essentially CB cover only now as isn’t needed for RB. If he wants to go be first choice somewhere then can’t blame him and now is his best chance as he’s at a decent age. If he’s happy being a squad player then def keep him but again, like Kelleher, he’s our profit for psr. Longest serving player been here 10 years and won it all with us albeit as a squad player in most seasons. Real shame as was a period when he partnered vvd few years ago looked really great but injuries just haven’t allowed him to be a settled player. We need another Cb if going to lose Quansah or Gomez, and with vvd 33 and Konate in final year of contract, it suddenly looks like it could be a huge problem area for us.
I don't think he wanted to leave but, as you say, the club wants to sell him. I reckon the willingness to leave is just him accepted his fate
Kerkez deal almost done. 40mil or 45? Who knows but I'm sure they will want a cheap deal on doak or Elliott and we will play nice
Delap confirmed to Chelsea. Seems a very odd one, maresca signing another ex city youth. Seems like an opportunistic one for Chelsea. £30m, hope he comes out alright but if not still young enough to shift in and prob make money back.
I think so. They've bought him with zero intent to play him given they are now after Ekitike immediately after. I'd not be shocked to see delap loaned straight out to someone. I think he showed very poorly from all of this. He was placed at city after playing for Derby.as a youth and immediately loaned out 2 or 3 times then he jumps ship from city to ipswich (or was pushed) and would only sign there if he got a release thst favoured him. So far looks a pure mercenary and had turned down genuine offers to actually play to take Chelsea coin. He will be moving again within a year.
Hm don’t agree entirely. 1 I don’t see Chelsea buying another CF. I think maresca likes Jackson and his stats aren’t actually too bad - misses chances but does score and has the touch of Nunez in that can’t stay onside - sort that and could easily be getting 20 goals. I think Delap will be his understudy but rotation for cups but also afcon next year. on Delap, I don’t think he should have gone Chelsea, he prob needed 2 years at an Everton/palace/brentford type club. Mid table where going to get 30 games for 2 more years and try bagging 15/20 goals a season consistently and suddenly get a big move as first choice. But I wouldn’t say he jumped ship from city - like a lot of city youth products they get brilliant footballing education and then move on to make their own careers when can’t break into city team. City get good money, they get decent move. Much better than 3 years of loans to diff clubs without setting world alight and then getting to 22/23 with no real home and no one really interested (Morton springs to mind).
Just on the talk of city youngsters and getting their education so to speak. What do we need to be doing in order to push out similar products as its been a while and city have made some bank from selling their young ones in the past few seasons.
Not trying to disrespect our academy but the product simply us not there. They plough loads of kids they buy in on top of the kids they do have but there is still a classic lfc type of kid. Pass all day. Not much pace Very little Athletic ability. Look like kids Always injured. If we look at any list of hot prospects you find very few local lads on it. They are all purchased from other academies. Ollie o'conner that'll be your new name. 16 Problem? Trey nyoni in front of him and nowhere near good enough to play for lfc needs a couple years playing man's football. Also Ayman bought for 1.2mil who is also nowhere. Carter pinnington. Problem? Nallo I could go on but in general it's very rare to get a quansah who is big enough, fast enough.amd fit enough but then thry need games
Think they’ve invested huge sums into it. Their youth team have their own stadium for one. Them and Chelsea seem to be the standout. I’m not sure if it’s deliberate or a coincidence but they also seem to produce players who are physically able to compete - Lavia, Delap, harwood-bellis, Simpson-pusey just some recent examples. That definitely helps them out compete at youth levels but also helps when they do get loans or moves to clubs as they can compete more easily with 30 year old pros - as well as developing great technique while at the city academy.
