Not a huge surprise but is still a bit of one. especially the timing and the fact it didnt happen 3 weeks ago.
Feel like Carrick will be one who falls upwards because of style of play. Didn't do a great job in the grand scheme of things but really hasn't been helped by recruitment. Iheanacho, Whittaker and not signing any defenders as your January window while trying to push for the playoffs was suicide.
While true, he was a major part of that - rejected a shortlist of 5 strikers from their scouting and recruitment team in favour of signing iheanacho
Think this is the best thing for him and Boro tbh, far too inconsistent to win promotion under him Loved watching his team play when they were on it tho, but always felt they had a soft under belly
Think that's why I really favour not having the head coach making final transfer decisions. A say? Yes. But stuff like that makes me shudder.
failed 3 times to boro up, RLB did it in one season
with a lot less expensive squad too
I really don't rate Whittaker, attitude issues to go with a poor work rate is never a good combo Doak gave them width so the minute he got injured it was far too narrow as no width given from RB
Carrick should've gone weeks ago. Should be doing miles better with the money they spent. They should be going all out for Rohl. Edit. They need to be careful with this next appointment or it could go really tits up. They'll probably lose Hackney this summer too.
Depends if Boro are willing to pay the compo fee Wednesday want, can see them going for cooper or something like that
