Good Morning. It's Wednesday 4th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Leeds United Eye Move for "Explosive" Feyenoord Winger Igor Paixao Leeds have made a formal enquiry for Feyenoord winger Igor Paixao, a player described as "explosive" due to his impressive performances in the Eredivisie. However, securing the Brazilian's signature won't be easy, as the Dutch club are holding out for a hefty €40m (£34m) transfer fee. Paixao's performances have attracted attention from other clubs as well, with Brighton & Hove Albion and Napoli also reportedly making contact, setting the stage for a potential bidding war. Despite Feyenoord falling short of the Eredivisie title this season, finishing 11 points behind PSV Eindhoven, Paixao's individual displays have been outstanding. Playing primarily as a left-winger, the 24-year-old has amassed an impressive 18 goals and 19 assists across all competitions, totaling 37 goal contributions. His impact on the team is further highlighted by his WhoScored rating of 7.52, making him the highest-rated player in the entire Dutch league. In his three seasons with Feyenoord, Paixao has consistently showcased his ability to tear apart defenses, suggesting a move to the Premier League could be on the cards. While Leeds United fans are undoubtedly excited by the prospect of signing Paixao, the £34m asking price could prove to be a significant obstacle for manager Daniel Farke. Whether the club is willing to invest such a substantial amount remains to be seen. Adding fuel to the fans' desire is Paixao's admiration for former Leeds star Raphinha. While a deal is far from certain, Paixao's potential arrival would undoubtedly inject flair and firepower into Leeds United's attacking options. please log in to view this image Leeds United Reignite Interest in Cameron Archer Leeds United are reportedly reviving their interest in Southampton striker Cameron Archer as they look to bolster their attacking options for the upcoming season. Manager Daniel Farke is seemingly not entirely convinced by current forward Joel Piroe, making the acquisition of a new striker a priority. Archer, 23, emerged as a key target for the Whites in January. However, a deal failed to materialise. Now, with Southampton's relegation from the Premier League, the possibility of Archer moving to Elland Road has resurfaced. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Leeds United could be "back in" for the young striker, potentially marking the continuation of a prolonged transfer pursuit. Archer's profile seemingly fits the type of player Farke is looking for, adding pace and dynamism to the forward line. However, some fans and pundits remain unconvinced, citing Archer's underwhelming performance last season. He managed just two goals for Southampton and received a Whoscored rating of only 6.13, ranking him as the Saints' 29th best player. These statistics have led some to believe that Leeds dodged a bullet by missing out on him previously. Despite these concerns, Farke and the Leeds United recruitment team clearly see potential in the former Aston Villa academy product. Whether they can agree on a deal with Southampton remains to be seen, but certainly not at £15m, the figure banded about during the winter transfer window. please log in to view this image Santos shot-stopper on Leeds radar With Illan Meslier's departure from Elland Road inevitable, Leeds finds themselves linked with a new shot-stopper on a daily basis. While names like Nick Pope and Sam Johnstone continue to be linked, a new contender has emerged from Brazil - Gabriel Brazao. LeedsUnited.News has learned that the club is actively pursuing the 24-year-old Santos keeper, who only recently joined the Brazilian side from Inter Milan. Despite a relatively short stint, Brazao has already impressed scouts with his performances in Brazil, which have caught the attention of the Red Bull. Their extensive network in Brazil further strengthens Leeds' position. They have been exploring various options in the Brazilian market, and Brazao has untapped potential. His recent form (and age) make him an attractive prospect for Leeds, as they look to rebuild their squad following promotion back to the top flight. Brazao's recent resurgence is particularly noteworthy. After struggling for playing time in Europe, amassing only eight appearances in six years, he found a new lease on life back in Brazil. His consistent performances for Santos, accumulating over 50 appearances in the last 18 months, has also caught the attention of Chelsea, though game time at Stamford Bridge would be undeniably hard to come by. please log in to view this image
Morning all Not expecting any transfers to be concluded before July 1st unless they are smaller ones, I am sure we would have got a couple of quick ones over the line if it were not for the PSR reporting dates.
It's quite possible we are linked with everyone mentioned We are short of a LB, CB, AM, Forward, Keeper, Winger - If we enquired about 5 players for every position that's 30 links, imagine 20 of those links we are told a ridiculous price and another 5 the agent says the player does not wish to join, the search continues and we go through the entire process again Agents into overdrive offering every PL team a player on their books, we only have to say what is his wage and how much are his parent club wanting, that agent is going to immediately release details that Leeds are interested. Newly promoted clubs are possibly short in just about every position, established teams are possibly looking at just 2-3 improvements. It stands to reason we are going to be linked to just about anyone looking for a move
Lots of fans need explaining the difference between link and about to sign. Kelleher a great example. Leeds fans having a go at the lad because he didn't sign for us. There's not a shred of evidence he was ever in the running. That fly on the wall Burnley documentary from a few seasons back gave a great insight into the complexities of a modern day signing and every thing that can go wrong
I know what you mean, some fans confuse their desire to sign a player with an actual bid by the club for the player to turn down. Just because we think a player is worth signing doesn’t mean the recruitment team and coaching staff agree
Ristac has it right. Clubs have an eye on stacks of players, agents let it known who's expressed an interest to drive competition and get the best deal for their player. I'm sure we asked about Kelleher, doesn't mean we were set on him as first choice or even that serious. Maybe we had serious discussions... but maybe we were just told 'he's going to brentford providing their keeper sale doesn't fall through.' Sometimes there are last minute haggles for the highest bidder, especially in January, but sometimes they're a chain reaction or a deal that was agreed in principle months ago.
It's Great to see players linked but you have to take everyone with a pinch of salt. Nobody knows nowt. even getting them in the building still doesn't mean he's signing. hence Dan James. We have been linked with so many and we will be linked with so many more. its part of every supporters way though aint it to put their own jigsaw together. but end of the day that's all it is. We don't even know if Firpo is staying and he's one of our own that's how close we are to any speculation or links.
If you're sympathetic to bad jokes about terrible signings... did you know that Jean-Kevin Augustin played in the swiss league last year for Basel. Brush it under the table if you prefer to forget all about him.
