Mbeumo Guehi Trafford Joao Pedro Elanga First 3 are reasonably likely, and if we get them it's an awesome window. Joao Pedro I'd be happy to take if we miss out on Mbeumo, Elanga unlikely, but I'd be very happy with
To think Man U paid around £240m for that lot - and that's with Rashford being 'free' (via the youth system).
Guehi - £50m even though last year of contract Mbuemo - £60m Grealish - £12m loan fee with £23 to make permanent at season end. Ramsey - £50m Joan Garcia - £21m release clause £195ish million overall We will sell 3 players for a combined for of £30-40m and balance at around £150m.
Edited mine. I assume we've got until the first transfer arrives before the list is locked in? 1. J. Ramsay 2. DCL 3. A. Elanga 4. J. Trafford 5. Van Hecke
Apparently the mood music has changed on Trafford. The deal is now being described by club insiders as 'difficult to do'. I think this translates to 'Burnley want £30m+ and we were going to go back in an inch or two above the £16m we offered last summer'.
My list was pessimistic enough but I actually don’t think we will sign a single player to improve the first team. I honestly think our scouting is ****ing woeful.
Forster or Krul. But I read on HG that if you only have, say, 1 locally trained player then your max squad size is reduced by 3 (you’re supposed to have 4) but there’s no other punishment so to speak. So going for either just means having someone else in the squad we will never use. I am really struggling to understand what this club is doing. It feels ponderous and almost amateurish.
We've got a crap recruitment strategy... I actually think Staveley got deals done that the remaining staff can't.
Yeah, I get that the squad inherited at the point of the takeover wasn't geared up for European football (and the 'homegrown, own club' quotas). However, there has been enough time now to have more 'homegrown, own club' lads come through, aside from just Longstaff and Miley (who is still young enough not to count as an extea squad player yet anyway - I think). Hopefully over the next 2-3 years we'll see more of the younger signings starting to compete for the first team squad, as we will need it.
I've little confidence that we'll get anyone of note this summer; with two of our targets going off elsewhere very quickly it seems. Champions League seems to be trumped by £200k a week at a club where many players just fade away. But who can blame the players for putting hard cash first? Anyhow we've got great signings previously, so we should do it again. I can't say that I'm too bothered about losing Mitchell. Didn't see much brilliance that he displayed. His entrance seemed to cause some aggro in the camp, without getting a real highpoint that was shown to be down to him.
We’ve now had the dreaded “we are extremely confident we’ll make the right decisions, not necessarily the quick ones” line. Ah, crap.
Perfect because 2 of mine are gone! Jonathan David Joao Pedro James Trafford Marc Guehi Mohammed Kudus
