like they would use one even if it was there the vast majority i see are on pavements / paths being used with little regard to anyone else and for that matter themselves .
In all honesty though, the convo always goes this way because you do get a few dickheads who ride on pavements and put pedestrians in danger. It doesn't mean the vast majority of riders do it though. You also have to remember that for cyclists, they are sometimes forced to choose between being in with heavy traffic, trucks etc or riding on the pavement, because there is a lack of safe provision for them. Like I say though, if town planning builds in bike lanes and makes it safe for people to use bikes. I think you'd find more people and families would use them, especially in town centres.
There's a bigger picture with regard to that though which about cost of living, business rates and rent, online shopping, out of town retail parks, cost of parking in towns etc.
Just In from work ffs This ain't what I started my own thing for Need to get back to 10am/4pm days. This 8pm **** is like actually working ffs
****in ****. Although it was a choice rather than a necessity, means I Onky have a half day to do tomorrow and I can go price another job up. Ain't done a day like that for a while tho I'm shattered
Yeah I hear ya. Sometimes I'm working flat out at events for 3 days non stop. That's like a 4am start and 10pm finish, plus all of the days prep and making beforehand I'm absolutely ****ed after that sort of stint But then on the flip side, I can have take a few days off pretty much when I want to go surfing, biking, chilling etc. Just being your own boss too, nobody else to answer to and you're working for your own project instead of somebody else's Can't beat that.
**** mate that's torture for me.. 12hr days is a proper slog, even if your just standing up serving peeps bee jizz honey. 12 hrs on your feet is a tough day for anyone. And Yeh you can't beat working for yourself, so many perks, wish I'd done it years ago now tbh.
Yeah mate, and selling the bee jizz is just one part of it. Usually I have to rock up at events, set up a gazebo, tables, banners, lights etc. I've got other electrical equipment too, and some places don't have leccy, so I have to set up the Gennie and then run cabling etc. That's before I start trading. At the end of it all, it needs breaking down, packing away in the van. Driving home, unpacking again and putting in the shed. Some events are a ****in nightmare trying to get in and out of, as you can imagine, there are hundreds of other traders, technicians etc all trying to get on and off site at the same time. Then you have make it all again, and start all over for the next event. But yeah bro, I wouldn't swap it for anything. I was nearly 40 years old when I set up this business, but knowing what I know now I would have done it years earlier.
Ayr I forgot about the setting up that must take at lest an hour in itself. See what I do is include the days clean up in the price/hours, makes it less of a chore. So if Im doing til 4pm I'll start cleaning up at half 3, I don't suppose that's an option for you as much. All worth it in the end tho mate, nothing like a bit of coin in ya pocket
Yeah mate, the clean up is part of the job so you have to charge for that too. For me, I just earn what I earn when I’m selling. Everything else is prep, set up, pack down and driving to and from gigs. I’ve got other aspects to my business though, online, wholesale, and supplying to a few restaurants. So it’s not all about the hustle.
