I think if it’s north of 30 we have done very, very well.

€40 million is exactly what Hugo Larsson is valued by at Frankfurt.

I agree with all of that tbh. We know it’s the potential he’s being signed on. His growth has been scary good

I think if / when he goes , I trust the current lot in charge to bring in the next level up of young players along with a few experienced players where it matters.
I've loved the way that everyone outside of Sunderland seemed to have written us off and massively underestimated us this season.
Hope they do it again and we tick along nicely under the radar, going about our transfer business quietly.

What I’m not getting is why agree a £40m release clause but allow a £25m sale. Understand that if we were still a Championship club but we are not

as class as Jobe is, we will be much better for reinvesting the fees being mentioned across the team than having him in it next season. Shame, but is just where we are.

He’s a class act and Sunderland clearly got under his skin. Will love watching him from afar.

Be interested to see Aleksik is pre season, his hype was huge and was clearly bought with this eventuality in mind. Defo not ready to be a starter, but hopefully either a top end championship loan or a bit part role to come

Defo mate, no doubting he’ll go to the very top for me. And I think he’ll thrive in a squad with better players than we currently possess and not fighting for his life every match in a team expected to be around the bottom of the PL. And I hope he does because it’s been a privilege watching him develop here, feel like he joined the club as a boy and he’s matured/grown a LOT in the time he’s been here.

Quite clearly not an actual translation given the numbers aren't matching up.

Obviously we’ll never know but to me the only way a release clause being agreed and a handshake agreement being made at a lower price makes any sense is if it was “if we don’t go up we’ll let you go for 25m + 5m€”

And there's your answer to this transfer and every other transfer we'll make ...

... pointless agonising over speculation in my opinion.

Just going off Transfermarkt. He’s played a bunch of top flight games in a CL qualifying team.

    Brighton paid £25milliin for Weiffer.

£30 plus is a banging deal. Moreso if we have an add on on or sell on. It’s absolutely inflated.

It’s disappointing and I’m a bit gutted but the club got way overpaid for Stewart, got a really good deal for Watson and got what looks to be a fair deal for Clarke. Got to back them and have confidence they’ll get this one right too.
