Down the line, yes I agree. Like I said before, as part of a long term build you need to be able to scout young talent. But we were behind other clubs at the point of takeover and so needed to buy first. There is room for both Approaches. Most big clubs buy and scout. But Mitchell spouting off about decisions made by his predecessors is not a professional look. .
Spot on mate, but quite a few are transfixed on league position. The fact is Man United are far bigger pull, whether we like it or not.
Look mate I don't even care we just have to see what happens. We can't argue we're right because we don't have the answers just now. If you're right I'll buy you a drink in the canny lad from the barmaid I'm going to try and snake. Let's just control the things we can... That's recruitment strategy.
It's just text book I never fancied her stuff though. It's funny mate. I'm so experienced I just said I never fancied them in the first place... Before rejection.
The thing that winds me up is the twisting - we get CL so can draw in better players. Yet Mbuemo and Cunha aren’t the level we’re after. Yet Dibling is. Yet we can’t move fast because we want the right players. Yet we can’t then sign Huijsen or Delap because they don’t want to come. It’s just contradiction on contradiction - it’s perfectly fair to say scouting isn’t very good here. Mitchell has seen under the covers and said it’s not fit for purpose. No first team signings over three windows and a PSR clusterfuck back up that claim. Our incredible slowness yet again this window further backs up that claim, and yet the mental gymnastics have to come out because Howe won the league cup! I mean we signed someone who had a year ban hanging over their head, something every other club seemed to be aware of. I think we have an excellent head coach, who should be lauded, but the scouting side is sub standard for a club of our ambition.
They were the big fish in their respective ponds, they'll crash and burn at man u like everyone else does.
I think Newcastle have a small selection that they aim for and if they don't get them it's a burnt cake.
Mbuemo is elite. I don't care about not signing Cunha or Delap but Mbuemo would have been transformative for us as RW. Oh well, if we miss out we move on. There are other players who can do a similar role for us but he would have been my number 1.
Yeah. We'll never know all sides of the full story, like I said earlier. All I'm saying is that anyone going into a new job and mouthing off as mr big balls, saying they will have full control and then saying their predecessors did a bad job, is just unprofessional. It's not a good look in any business. Mitchell then scurrying off with his tail between his legs is mostly his own doing. He only had to be part of the 'NUFC team', like everyone else seems to have been. But no, he tried to be bigger. Then fell on his sword.
Because you are going on like i've been posting loads about how much i wanted us to sign Cunha and Mbuemo, i haven't once.
We agree on the first part then, but these are assumptions you're making after that. For all we know he got offered a bigger salary in Saudi.
It feels like we’re at a standstill at the minute. I’d love to know what actually goes on behind the scenes & with how everything seems to take so long compared to other big clubs. It’s actually getting a bit tedious now with how long it’s been since an exciting signing came in. I think Eddies sometimes too careful with signings, some signings are a slight risk, it’s just part of the game. I don’t see us signing Dibling though, seemed quite lazy everytime I watched him.
He's had one stand out season..so has Wissa, he isn't that good either. Loads of not that good players have had one off seasons..Kevin Phillips, Marcus Stewart, James Beattie.
