2 things Ill give him credit for:
    1) having the bollocks to come out with stuff like that
    2) leaving the club.

Was an absolute parasite and was overseeing the clubs potential demise. Got laughed at worldwide on STID.

People think the ownership that brought in Jim Rodwell, Richard Hill and Phil Parkinson were capable of getting someone like Speakman in (conveniently at the time KLD was taking over). Still thinks we are stupid man.

2 things ive picked up on as I keep watching this,

    1) On the full time Whistle, One SU player follows and hounds the ref,

    2) a young lad without arms celebrating and crying his lil eyes out, ( not sure if its on this vid, could be another one)

    Why is he STILL lying?

Unless KLD is stupid (he clearly isn't), why would he let departing owners interview and hire a DoF just a few weeks before he took charge? Plus, considering the people that Donald/Methven hired in similar positions, Speakman is wildly different to their usual hires. Just doesn't make any sense.

Notice he says 'Now is not the time to recount the whole rollercoaster ride' but goes on to discuss the 'good' things they did but barely mentions the bad. Playing off the signing of Grigg (that's who I'm presuming he means) as some kind of joke just sums him up.

    Arsehole.

I saw that, it was the Hair Bear iirc.
    1. What can he possibly be complaining about
    2. Does he really believe he’ll get the referee to change his mind
They really lost their heads when they realised that bullying children can result in a custodial sentence …

… in their case a 12 month stretch of hard labour with little chance of parole <laugh>

    And after the final:

“I think it is a really interesting one around fine margins in football.

Régis took some big gambles which paid off, if our form since March had carried on into the playoffs he would have been under pressure.

Even then I think he got his tactics wrong in both the second leg vs Coventry and the final vs Sheffield Utd but wasn’t punished by the opposition. On that basis he was able to make changes which win us the game.

I just think it goes to show that mangers aren’t usually fundamentally amazing or rubbish but in a low scoring game like football very small things can mean the difference between being a hero and getting the sack.”

So the argument is”if Coventry took their chance at the end” yet totally ignoring the 3 or 4 clear chances we also didn’t take in the semi! And TLB got his tactics wrong!

Teally think we need to go and get the lad that posted this in as manager. Obviously JCUH more clued up than Le Bris!

Coventry didn't force Patterson into one decent save over two games.

The Coventry keeper made good saves from Mayenda in both games.

In fact, Mayenda should've scored in the first few minutes of the 2nd leg but hit his shot straight at Wilson ...

... just as he did towards the end on the 1st leg.

I'd bet this lad wouldn't be able to recall either attempt, when your blinkers are on you simply can't see.

Yep. Got an external headhunter according to reports at the time. Plus the little matter of Methven stepping back from the club over a year earlier.

There's zero chance of someone like Speakman going to work for someone like Methven, end of story.

The fairytale about him introducing KLD to Sunderland is also a fairytale.

Methven has no history in football and zero credibility.

KLD lived and studied in Leeds, part of the UK, and has been in a football family since birth.

He was already well aware of SAFC and studied with the Sunderland supporting son of a poster who's regularly mentioned on here and elsewhere.

The idea that Methven 'brought him in' is ludicrous ...

... he needs to keep his mouth shut, and his nose out, before someone decides to take legal action.

It's all about getting his 'brand' out for his next opportunity. Just has to hope that nobody checks the references with SAFC or Charlton fans! He's a better-presented version of William Storey tbh

Speakman and Dodds were rated as well; they weren’t signing on for a plastic dream with that ****.

They were chancers, and that's all there is to it.

If there is any doubt about this, we can refer back to the interview KLD gave, shortly after taking his initial 60% stake. It will be available somewhere to check . He stated, for the record , that the club had been reduced badly, and accused others of having been "asset strippers".

He was not doorstepped, so this remark about asset strippers was not a reaction to a clever question. This was a planned interview over which he would undoubtedly have had an editorial say. He knew what he was saying, and he couldn't have been talking about Ellis Short who, though he never employed the right people to run the club, poured a great deal of money in, and lost most of it.

KLD could only have been referring to the chancers. This was a very serious thing to say, and anyone who thought that they could defend themselves from such a dreadful accusation, would have done so immediately, but from the chancers there came nothing. They were damned by their own silence.

Sufficient unto the day and all that. They are gone and we are a whole world better for that fact.

This should make you laugh, a Sunderland mate who lives in Sheffield sent me this from their forum.

This is a serious post, they're still going on about the offside goal that was chalked off ...

... it's really sent them over the edge.

"I'm still furious about the decision tbh.

I wasn't bothered about going into the Prem just wanted us to win at Wembley ...

... as we were doing before Kavanagh's intervention!"

Anthony Patterson on Sunderland's Premier League return

    upload_2025-6-3_9-6-0.png

    https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/s...-patterson-sunderlands-premier-league-return/

ANTHONY Patterson is convinced Sunderland can buck the trend of promoted clubs and survive in the Premier League next season....

"It's going to be an incredible season," said Patterson. "We're going to be coming up against the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Man United, Man City, and it's just going to be surreal, but it's a challenge all the lads are looking forward to. I don't think it's quite sunk in yet but it will as we reflect over the summer."

After winning promotion to the Premier League, Southampton, Ipswich and Leicester accumulated just 59 points between them last season, with the Foxes, best placed of the three in 18th, finishing 13 points adrift of safety. But Patterson insists Sunderland are confident they can finish above the dotted line.

"Definitely, I think we've got the quality, you've seen that," he said. "I think we've got unreal amounts of quality so let's see what we can do in the Premier League next season."

Had Sunderland failed to win promotion, they'd have almost certainly lost a number of key men this summer. Enzo Le Fee's deal wouldn't have been made permanent and interested clubs would have circled around their stars. Jobe Bellingham is still likely to leave, with the midfielder having held talks with clubs in Germany, but Patterson believes the bulk of Sunderland's group will stay together.

He said: "Yeah, I think so. I think the togetherness we've got as a group is incredible. I've never seen a group like it and it got us over the line - it's been incredible."
