There’s no guarantee Jones would live up to the hype; he’s been hot and cold at 4 clubs and whether his tenure would be a success would depend on many factors not least whether he’d have his way on new players and backroom staff. The fans would cut him some slack no doubt but the pressure on him to succeed would be intense. If Tan does pay the compensation it would show to the fans that he is serious about the club rather than last season’s pitiful weakness to promote Riza to the full time position.
It's pretty clear that Jones wants the job or there wouldn't be any point in discussions between the club about compensation. If Jones doesn't know what he'd be letting himself in for, then more fool him. Tan may be up for a change, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I have to be honest i dont even care anymore, what will be will be,,and proberly to late when they make up their minds to sign anyone worth having as they have been signed by other clubs.
I can understand the reasons for caution to ensure they don't get it wrong, but despite that, history tells us they probably will.
It's been fascinating watching the odds change over the past few weeks. They say the bookies always win and I'm sure that will be the case this time, but I'm still none the wiser as to who gets the nod from Tan.
The bookies will stay in business BT - of that there's no doubt. I was kicking myself on the weekend for not having a go on Jones last Thursday @ 33/1 when I was given the nod and he came into odds on favourite. Now he's gone back out to 6/1 it seems I've saved my money...............but apart from some rabid Charlton bloggers, is everyone so sure about that?
Waiting for Glen to give us an authoritative update; he’s doing a trawl of social media as we sit and ponder Oh and by magic here it is - reference to said rabid Charlton blogger https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport.../cardiff-city-manager-decision-state-31769644
