I'd encourage you to reach out and speak to someone professionally, I know it's a bit daunting but once you're in it generally becomes comfortable relatively quickly. You could either use it just to offload and express this stuff. Or you could explore and work on your self-esteem and/or perhaps there are elements of social anxiety?

In the meantime, maybe away games and going by the buses put on would open up opportunities for a more social match day experience?

You don’t have to feel the pressure of speaking if you join a group. It’s okay to be an observer and figure your place and role in the group out whilst others initially take the lead. The activities will come as a purposeful distraction and direction. It may feel too much initially but it’s honestly never as bad as you convince yourself that it will be.

Can you try and reconnect with friends from the past? Message on social media for a coffee and/or beer?

Have you spoken to your wife too? Does she know how you feel?

    And I don’t think you’re a loser. I think you’ve shown strength posting here.

Want to give a bit of a positive update on the whole mental/physical health side of things, and maybe encourage others to look at what I've been doing themselves.

2 months ago I went to the pharmacy to enquire about the Mounjaro appetite suppressant jabs, a GP friend of mine had suggested looking at it when i was moaning about struggling to lose weight......now I'm not your typical over weight person, i'm about 6'2, stocky, very physically active playing all kinds of sports but have always been on the larger side, mainly as my appetite and sweet tooth cravings seeming have no off switch (strong chance this is linked to ADHD which i'm on the never ending wait list to get diagnosed for.....) for most my adult life i've been between 95 and 100kg but since a shoulder op 2 1/2 years ago have been up nearer 104 / 105kg. I'm basically the kind of person you can tell is carrying a bit of weight but you'd never class me as badly overweight never mind obese.

That said.....BMI said that at 105kg I was technically obese and i've been struggling with a knee injury so I went along, talked through with the pharmacist and got one of the Mounjaro pens.....150 quid for 4 weeks. I've now done 8 weeks worth of jabs and have lost 13kg and am down to 92kg (target is 88kg) which is about the lightest i've been since uni 20+ years ago, i've not had any real side effects, clothes i've not worn for 3 or 4 years now fit with room to spare and the pressure on my knee has reduced enormously. All that's happened is that my appetite has just reduced, i'm eating smaller portions of the same food, snacking has been reduced by about 90% and I honestly feel amazing for it.....still eat around 1800-2000 calories a day, no energy loss or impact on sport.....just incredible. I've no idea what comes next when I come off the fat jabs, I'll need to make sure I don't slip back into my old ways, but as a way of helping people to lose weight it genuinely does seem too good to be true.

If this is an area you struggle with, (tbf.....judging by a lot of city fans at matches there will be a fair few of us on here who struggle with weight!) i'd urge you to have a look into it, it's a simple conversation with the pharmacist, no GP appt or anything like that needed, I find for me that mental and physical health are intrinsically linked and I feel much happier and more zen following my weight loss, and if I can keep it off then absolute frigging bonus time. Happy to DM with anyone who'd like to know more or speak more privately

What are the possible side effects of both ozempic and mounjaro?
    That’s my only concern

There's always a risk of side effects, some things like loss of taste or enjoyment of food have been mentioned, i've been fortunate enough to not experience any other than the intended effects, I guess with these jabs being weekly if you do have a funny reaction you simply stop

My daughter put on a lot of weight after having my grandson and having a holiday of a lifetime booked for later this year (hubby’s 40th), decided to do something about it.

She’s been on Ozempic for a few months and combined it with one or two hours a day at the gym, at least five days a week and she’s lost a lot of weight (the weight she’s lost, is the same as the weight of her six year old son)

She looks fantastic, feels great and is much healthier and happier, it’s been great for her both her physical and mental health.

She had some concerns about side effects, but hasn’t suffered any obviously won’t carry on with it now it’s done its job (hopefully she’ll carry on with the gym though).

They truly do look to be wonder drugs.....and nothing can be too good to be true but if in general there are no widespread side effects Ozempic and Mounjaro could change the weight issues of nations

What is never really mentioned is how terrible socials are for MH, (IG/X/Facebook) I’ve not had any of them for about a month now and the difference has been stark. I control my own mind completely now, I’ve seen a massive reduction in intrusive thoughts and a marked improvement on how to handle them and things of that ilk. If you have them great but for me IG in particular seems to take the worst things of human character and amplify them, ego and anxiety in equal measure.

Sorry late to the conversation as usual, but on the topic of Mounjaro, I’ve been on it for a couple of months too. I’m losing about a pound a week so far, but I’m still on the lower doses. Some people are more sensitive than others to it which is why you keep upping your dose until you’re happy with the rate of loss.

GLP1 drugs have been on the market for 8 years and people have been taking them longer in clinical trials before that. There’s a lot of patient data to go through and so far they look “relatively” safe. You might hear of rare side effects being discovered, but that’s because they’re so rare you need data from hundreds of thousands of patients around the world to be able to say whether it’s a statistically significant effect and related to the drug.

I was officially pre-diabetic at my last blood test, and under instructions to lose weight. So I look on the jabs as a long term treatment to reset my insulin metabolism and all the related hormones that manage hunger signals. The fact I lose weight and feel better is almost a bonus. I’m wary of people who treat it like just another a faddy diet, falsify their weight to get it prescribed when their BMI is less than 30 etc and then get upset when they haven’t lost two stone in a month. I suspect I’ll be on it a while while my body resets itself. And it’s paying for itself because I’m eating properly rather than takeaways and chocolate and Costa. The biggest surprise effect for me is that when I’m hungry now I actually want something healthy with veg or salad, and my stomach turns a bit at the thought of a fish supper or curry. The only time I get bad digestive trouble now is eating something greasy.
