I don’t think they do. Bayern won’t go that high and having just lost Tah to Bayern they won’t want to do business with them and strengthen a rival. City are out of it and Wirtz pretty much said he wants to join. bid is in and hasn’t been rejected so I think both sides just trying to get a few million either way and then it’s done.
Liverpool has submitted improved offer for WIRTZ. which has been rejected. https://www.empireofthekop.com/2025/05/31/leverkusen-reject-second-liverpool-bid-wirtz/
Transfer window has been open 22 hours and it’s not even the actual transfer window - just the mini one for World Cup clubs to get some players. If we haven’t agreed a fee by end of June then I’ll admit, it’s looking unlikely.
Getting closer. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-summer-transfers-slot-hato-35320379
Its probably a case now ifnits already too late for this week and wirtz will play 2 German games. And this will roll on to next week. It's a very big deal and I'm sure they are negotiating on some level but they won't get medicals done now.
BBC confirming £12.5m for Kelleher, rising to £18m in add-ons. If the add-ons aren't too outlandish then that seems ok.
I don't think the window actually being open or not matters. Clubs do deals outside this transfer windows all the time, they just can't officially join until a window is open.
We don't play a game for 2.5 months so none are "needed" until then Deals can be done at any time. Medicals.can be done at any time. I agree the timing of the start of window can be for just for financial reasons or for the world club cup or whatever but are largely irrelevant to this. If we believe 2 bids have been rejected and negotiations are happening then the stsrt of the window has nothing to do with this. Germany's nations league campaign has far more relevance. We are out of time this week. The medical won't happen now until the nations league final is over.
Kimmich when asked about Wirtz - ‘He will have his reasons for making this decision. I hope it’s the right path for him. As a Bayern player I would have naturally wanted him to come to us’
