I don’t know the race, it was in Ireland and that happened at the very last hurdle, the horse was clear and just needed to jump the last to win, but they are saying the jockey had other ideas.

yes, thats what they do in hong kong I think

the volume of betting over there is monumental, so integrity is taken very seriously

What has happened with “reasonable and permissible” – rule 99 (2) – is that the officials have attempted over time to build up a notional database, if you will, of rides that could and, perhaps in many cases, should have been done differently and produced a different outcome at the winning post. So there has been a benchmark in construction for the level of misjudged ride sufficiently egregious that stewards can use “reasonable and permissible” to ban the jockey, without ever having to suggest anything more sinister (or difficult to prove) than a poor ride.

in ireland theres just a culture of cheating is part of the game, probably officially sanctioned doping for the like of Mullins and Obrien

recently there was case were ladbrokes were refusing to pay out on a massive double (125/1 & 80/1) that was landed on irish racing

this was an obvious case of cheating where both horses had purposely been beaten as far as possible on previous runs, and both turn up on that day and go straight to the front when the moneys down

imo the races should have been voided and all bets refunded, but instead the whole of racing rallied around to get the crooks paid, they had already collected millions and put multiple bookies out of business at the time, it was just ladbrokes refusing to pay one of many bets on the horses

I read years ago, when Hong Kong's population would only have been 5 or 6 million, that more is gambled on an average Wednesday at Happy Valley than is gambled on Grand National Day in the UK

Did I ever tell you I was born in Hong Kong? <party>
