by scoring 28, root has reached 13,000 test runs, the fifth player to do so. he's done it in the fewest matches, though not the fewest innings. he will eventually pass the other four. perhaps even in this match, ho ho. pope and crawley both passed 100 after duckett did.
some accusations of stat padding playing Zimbabwe at home....but for me not that different from India walloping Bangladesh every so often, only they play a lot more frequently
Looking forward to being back at a Test match tomorrow. Trent Bridge is always a nice venue. Football? What's that? Acun who?
first odi against the windies today. england batted first, amassing 400 for 8. it's the first innings in which 7 players have scored 30 or more. it's the first 400+ total without a century. four 50+ scores, including root and new captain brook. top scorer bethel with 82. windies highest odi chase was 328 against ireland.
england's second heaviest win in terms of runs. previous best was 242 against aus when we scored 481 and did them for 239 a few years back.
never fails to amaze me how utterly **** our overseas players are as well.....the 2 playing tonight with combined figs of 1 for 114 off 8!!!!! Last season we managed to take Shan Masood from Derbyshire where he'd scored about 2000 runs and turn him into someone who didn't know which end of the bat to hold....
I'm happy to latch onto any success but most of the time they're just a load of useless West Riding twats to me
what an innings. Up there with one of the best ever ODI innings for England I reckon, shame it ultimately means nothing, but still...well done
root passed 7000 odi runs - making him england's top odi scorer - while scoring his 18th odi century and increasing his best odi score from 133no to 166no. a handy stand of 143 with will jacks (49) in 20.1 overs steadied things after three earlier batsmen were ducked. won by three wickets with seven deliveries remaining. so england lead the series 2-0. four games to play in the series, on june 3/6/8/10. CORRECTION: the games on 6/8/10 june are T20s.
****ing Yorkshire once more ****ting in our hands and clapping on the T20 circuit, 2 overseas now bowled 16 overs for over 190 runs!
3rd odi england v windies today. the start was delayed and the details are somewhat farcical. then rain interrupted the windies' innings. game reduced to 40 overs each. https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/...r-road-closures-make-west-indies-late-1488853 windies' 8th wicket added 91, helping take the score from 154/7 to a far more respectable 251/9. england need a d/l adjusted 246.
