Hence the suggestion in that piece from Abbo I posted yesterday that it is ‘complicated’ but he also suggested it was ‘a long shot’ which infers possibly the clubs are way apart in negotiations.
A bigger problem might be that if City don't get him, whoever does get the job will know they were second choice.
This is as intriguing as the Echo’s speculation as to Jimmy Andrew’s replacement - “Who is City’s Mr X?”
I'll just remind you Nin, that I was the first to break this story Friday lunchtime. As posted then, I was actually told the day before on Thursday - long before your "Abbo" quote........... My biggest regret is that I didn't take the advice at the time to back Jones @ 33/1 as he was then.........

You can get 33/1 on him if you fancy it - same odds as Nathan Jones was on Friday......... Heads up..........being told Evatt is City's prefered choice should they not land Jones and are concerned that the Charlton compensation delay could mean missing out to Plymouth who want Evatt to replace Muslic. Must say this is more entertaining than our football last season.........

The first paragraph is indeed telling. It's a level of control that he'd never get with Tan. Though, I assume that given we're negotiating with Charlton over compensation, Jones has indicated his interest in joining us, and by implication the control he will have at the club.
