Scum always seem to get a home game against a promoted side first up, so another possibility (cue Aski to turn up and blow this comment out of the water with cold hard facts ).
I don't think we will be fav's in any away game next season apart from either Burnley or Sunderland and even them will be close on the odds. Early relegation odds and what we all probably expected.
only positive thing is alot of teams are in Europe next season this could hinder the likes of Palace they are guaranteed to play a extra 8 games just with Europe. they gonna have to up the anti in players. would be nice to hit a few of these teams in the weekend before a Euro game. Not saying they will be alot easier but there minds could well be on other things and won't be hitting them 50/50 balls in which we have to in every game.
Everton, Wolves, West Ham, Brentford, Palace - We need to aim at 3-4 points from the two fixtures vs each of those type of games to stand any chance
What a mouth watering prospect the. Coming season is. We’re heading over to first home game as usual as well still have a reasonable chance of staying up at that point
I don't need to, you are already resigned to knowing your statement is wrong However if the question was when did scum last play a promoted team (either home or away) as their opening fixture of the season, I would suggest Birmingham in 2009/10
The first PL game is on the Friday night and I bet that’s us. Hope not as I’ve already committed to doing something else on that date ffs
Could do with Leicester's 10/12 against the fellow promoted sides too. Ipswich got 10 pts against the "big 8", any takers for that? The other 9, Leicester take it with 11 to Ipswich's 10.
Said along the same lines myself the other day. All the noise is we have money to spend, we don’t have any crown jewels ready to be poached, our expectations for next season are low, the transfer window is just opening, I want to enjoy close season as that’s the best it might get! This season, every dropped point was painful, the expectation to finish in the automatics was very pressurised. Next season it will feel okay to drop points against the big guns, an away draw will be a point gained not two dropped.
It’s not the dropped points that’ll bother me so much. Every team will have them. It’s the drubbing we took over last two seasons there. Games that were over after 15 minutes. That’s embarassing for a fan of my vintage
But that just shows how big the gulf is now even your Palaces,Fulham's,Brentford's,Bournemouth's,Forest's the teams back a few year ago you would be hoping to topple coming up are fast becoming settled Established Prem Clubs. Thing is it's only going to get worse. Doesn't matter how much money a future Championship club come into they just won't have the chance to play catch up. Every team going up now are going to have to have a lucky first season back. even with a little kitty you sill going to find it hard to bring in the players you really need as they don't want to be in a relegation battle or sign a 3 year contract without get out clauses due to what might happen. It's just the way it's become sadly. We have to dig in so much next season we are going to get battered again in some games. We really should be in a Bournemouth,Fulham,Brentford position now but we played the cards wrong when we went up and now we have to do it all again but now it's become even harder. We need btw 11-13 Premier League wins from 38 with a few draws to even consider staying up. doesn't sound much but when 12-15 clubs are better than you have to play with lady luck and be switched on in all 38 of them.
It is doable but when you have players deciding they’d rather play in front of 16,000 fans with no history, no chance of being something special, they’d rather go to Brentford simply because they are a safer bet to plod along it shows the times have hugely changed. We might need to scrap the plan of signing players with PL experience, not only is the gap widening, the players just don’t back themselves
