Lost his way? When was he ever good? For Portsmouth in league 1? To be honest I think it’s just his level. A full season in both the premier and championship have shown us this.
He’s still a kid in terms of being a keeper. A bad injury, and he hasn’t played for us in over a year (23 yo now). I can’t think of many keepers who light up the premier league as a 20/21 year old behind a god awful defence when we were relegated last time around. When Bazunu played for us in the prem at the age of 20/21, this is where other keepers were plying their trade. Ramsdale - Chesterfield Johnstone - Yeovil Town Raya - Southport Henderson - Grimsby / Shrewsbury Pickford - Carlisle I can’t be arsed to look at any other keepers. I feel Baz was chucked in the deep end with our philosophy of bringing in youth. Keeper is generally a position that takes longer to grow / mature into. We tried to buck the trend and it hasn’t paid off. I think there’s a lot of potential with Baz, but I think we are unrealistic if we were expecting a top division keeper from the off.
Exactly. League one is his level, maybe not forever. But he’s showed that he’s not ready to step up to championship or premier league atm. He may be one day, but probably not within the contract we’ve given him. The difference we saw when McCarthy came in was striking, and McCarthy is not a standout keeper.
Was Sam Amo just a loan? Or did we loan to buy? I would like to see him given a chance here next season..
Dear Mr Levy, If you think our product is too expensive, please feel free to shop elsewhere. All the best Southampton FC
He’s had half a good season in the PL. £45m would be a good deal. We can invest in a decent CB, Winger and striker (for championship).
If i were is Spur's shoes £40 million would be way too much. Dibling is far from being in the final product, even with the 'English premium ' I applaud Saints for sticking to their guns but i think their assessment this time is far from realistic. I cannot see that he is worth more than £25 to £30 million. At his worst, not sure that Dubling is a top prem player yet. Just think that Saints do not like doing business with Levy and will always make him pay over the odds. I do not feel Saints fan would have been happy to pay £40 mill had we had to have bought him last season albeit we were happy to spend money on crud likw Archer and Brereton-Diaz. I can see Dibling suiting Spurs and being a fan's favourite. However , on the basis of half a good season and half a poor season in the Prem , he is not yet worth what Saints are asking. In my opinion we need to concentrate on the sell in clause . Dibling's value will depend on who coaches him to get the best out of his ability.
