Before he thankfully got injured, Baz was not only statistically the worst keeper in the Championship, not just the worst keeper in England but the worst in Europe
Who knows, if Bazunu had not been injured we may not have been promoted, and could have been promoted this season, although we would probably have Russ as manager still!
I still think there's a good keeper in there with Baz. His time at Portsmouth showed that. Russ-ball is suicidal for goalkeepers. I'd personally prefer to give him another shot than go with McCarthy all season. Better still brining someone in but I don't get the level of virtiol over a young keeper who lost his way and cofidence a little and has had to fight back from a horrible injury.
Not the greatest source but a new name and some welcome news for those wanting more experience at centre half https://x.com/storme_bro4052/status/1928826172877447523?t=0ext0LQlaQC34nKbi_v_9Q&s=19
He was statistically the worst in the PL for us and then statistically the worst in the Championship for us. Hardly surprising many Saints fans aren’t positive about him… His main attribute is being a good passer. I personally prefer a Saints GK that can keep the ball out the net, command his area, catch some crosses perhaps. I appreciate he’s young and might still develop, but I’d want to see him get a full successful season on loan at Championship level or equivalent before we look to rely on him.
Don't see it as vitriolic at all for the most part. People just don't rate him. For me it's less about him losing confidence and more about him simply being a rubbish shot stopper.
He’s very much a Claudio Bravo type keeper, you have to be a certain type of manager who values the ability of a keeper with his feet over shot stopping. No idea if Still is like that I also feel that shot stopping is something which comes naturally so I can’t see Bazunu getting significantly better at it over time, you either have it or you don’t at this level
