Take away Roy’s 92 and that’s pretty pathetic from Surrey. Somerset shouldn’t have a problem chasing 147.
Apart from the drops, this has been a faultless allround performance. NRR is so important so to get such a big win straight away is huge.
Not really, we were miles ahead of the run rate the whole time. A couple of giveaway wickets but there was nothing in the pitch, which makes Surrey’s performance all the worse.
Surrey’s batting strategy seemed to consist of lobbing the ball straight to Craig Overton at long on!
That was a great double-header of Hampshire victories. Pretty brutal batting from both. Everything seems fine again when Vincey is in a Hampshire shirt. Essex will do well to recover that NRR hammering over the rest of the group stage.
Brevis is what I hoped he would be and then some. Seriously exciting young batter. Loved that he walloped his first ball faced for 6. Only 1 game admittedly but very excited about our batting this year in the Blast. Still got Pretorius to come as well! I hope we won't be afraid to bat first in evening games when we win the toss as well. If the weather is clear and the track is flat we should look to bat. I understand the logic in chasing plus the dew factor but as tonight has shown, we have the ability to bat teams out of the game.
When quality batters are in form, scores like tonight are possible. Vince has come straight in from smashing it at the PSL, and Brevis has come straight in from smashing it at the IPL. And it was clear to see. Very good knock from Albert too. If he can do that at least one more over the next three matches, I suspect he'll retain his place (albeit moved down to no.3) once Pretorius comes into open.
Loved the cricket last night. Never seen Hampshire destroy the opposition like that before. Brevis was terrific.
Jimmy bowling for Lancs. I'm pretty sure that this is the first time he's bowled in any white ball match since he limped off against us in the one-day SF at the Bowl in 2019.
