This is the problem because people see closer in the table, but we'll fall away a bit, and people will forget that we've been over achieving, and start up.

I think he's a very good player but he's a risk. I'd prefer someone more established but there's no doubting he's an upgrade. "upgrade" is not actually a very high bar though.

We're more likely to sign Harvey Elliott I think

 

I think we’ve got to be careful on what we believe. Players like Elliot and many others are going to use us as an agent soundboard, which will be deliberately leaked to get other, lesser clubs to think on it. Elliot isn’t very good. Doak on the other hand is. Dibling is one we will be trying to go under the radar on. We’ve not really bought any top team cast offs, I don’t believe Howe likes that approach.

So the rumour is that Howe uncharacteristically went to the media with his statement that “we needed to get our transfer business done as early as possible”.

Which was seen as a big pressure dink towards Mitchell who hasn’t got any players lined up. And Howe knew it.

Howe playing mind games to put Mitchell in a difficult position. And Mitchell resigned as a result.

Let’s see if we actually do with anyone in this mini window coming up.

 

In fairness, if after a year in the position and very little to show for it, Mitchell didn't have anything happening then he should be questioned.
