I’d like to know what we’re going to suddenly do better that we failed to do last summer when we spent 3 months chasing Guehi. I have a horrible feeling it’ll be a summer of one or two Barnes types and very little else, with barely any changes to the first XI. Maybe the journos have no idea but they seemed clued up on Tino, Barnes two years ago.
Tamp down on it Roland, just for a while. Perhaps wait for the transfer window to at least open and get somewhat underway before starting to despair. And perhaps remember that last summer wasn't the rule for how we approach signings under this ownership.
He wanted Isak before we were properly linked. Yeah, he wanted Amorim to replace Howe too, but we'll ignore that
They'll fail with Guehi and Mbeumo and then they'll go with Quansah and Elliot or something along those lines I think. We already failed with Delap, so DCL maybe?
Barnes Gordon and Murphy need upgrading tbf... They're all decent, but we need better.. It's all a bit try hard.
Howe isn’t a scout. He’s a manager. As such he will hopefully instruct our scouts to get players that fit his priorities. That’s their job. If they then get the players he wants and the negotiations are dealt with by the club he makes the right calls. It’s that process which I think was being undermined by Mitchell. Let’s see how it goes. Howe lives and dies by his own sword now.
You really aren't immune to cherry picking which stories to believe I think with Howe in charge we'll probably all be able to guess the main targets: Mbuemo, Guehi, Ekitike, Trafford, etc. It'll be names we've been linked with before and mostly UK based players. I could be wrong but I think he'll play it safe. I've no idea though so just excited to see what comes next. Bear in mind the club have decided to give free reign to the person who has been vocal in the press about how we have to go big this summer and raise the wage bill and splash the cash.
